Lower Back Pain On Right Side
Posted: 01-29-04 00:34am

Hi,
10 days back I had a severe lowe back pain after waking up from the bed. I never had a back pain before. And the pain has gone after 10 mins or so. Since then I am having the pain in the morning. And I am getting the pain while sleeping for about 7 or 8 hours. After that I could not lay down. And after some time I am having a pain whenever I try to stretch or bend towards my left. I am having no tingling sensation or pain in my legs.
As the day progresses then I feel as if my hip sprained or muscle pull over.
I am not having any pain at the middle of my back. Its mostly localising at the right side of my back and if I touch at my side ways just above the hip I feel the pain immediately after getting up from the bed.

Can somebody tell me what this could be? Actually this all started all of a sudden when I am sleeping on a soft matteress, before that I was sleeping on a firm matteress. Now a days I am sleeping on the hard bed, but of now use.

Can this be a disc degeneration? Or as? I am really worried.
Please some body let me know if any body ever experienced and what medications/treatment undertook?

Thanks

Hi,

please seem my posting on 19may04 (today). I have been having right lower back and hip problems for ~5 months and am also scared that it is ghoing to affect the rest of my life since no progress has been made with much treatment. I am very frustreted with the medical community. They either think its no big deal since you can still walk or they write you a script.

Same Problems With Back Pain
Posted: 09-22-07 23:22pm

hi there i couldnt help but read your post on lower back pain when you sleep and wake up. I dont know if you got any replies on your question or not. I'm 20 yrs old and i have the exact same problem that you do except i have had this going on for about 2 yrs now. i have always had lower back problems my whole life but nothing like this you cant sleep at night cause the pain is too much and very uncomfortable to do so. and when you wake up its worse. Doctors will say oh its muscle pain take this and sometimes it might take the pain away for alittle bit but not enough to get rid of it i do agree that Most doctors dont really care or understand cause you can still walk. i went to a doctor that did care enough to help me out. Most of my pain is that i was in a car accident in feb. i had a dislocating disc that needed to be fixed, but i didnt want surgery cause surgery will only temporarly fix the problem and later it'll just come back worse i know this cause my father and grandmather had this surgery i tried steriod shots just a temorarly fix. Until I started to excersize a whole bunch working out my back muscles that made a huge diference. Yes i still have my pain here and there but it doesnt hurt like it use too. at night befor i go to bed i'll do a few crunches and pushups and i'll also use the icy hot patches for my back to help ease the pain. When your dealing with your back its nothing to fool around with cause it can be serious spec. when you get older so try a daily routine of excersizes and some kind of treatment to place on your lower back when its bed time. also about the bed. i have a firm bed and it hurts my back even more when i go to bed but when i bought a more softer matress that helped my back alittle. What i'm getting at is that you probably need to find something that helps your back better other people are dif so it really depends what suits u best. and by the way I learned most of this in nursing school yes i'm an r.n Hope you get better take it easy and its best if you dont lift anything too heavy right before you go to bed that strains your back.

Same Problem For the Past Month
Posted: 10-14-07 18:14pm

I have one hip that is higher than the other due to my piriformous muscle squeezing my sciatic nerve. Having a bad cough caused me to tense up when I coughed causing the piriformous muscle to squeeze and inflame my sciatic nerve. I have been doing some exercises to help and taking ibprofin for the inflamation. it seems to be a long process.

I don't know if this is your problem but the symptoms are the same. You might do a search on the internet. I found the information under a web site called:
http:/www.Lostthebackpain.com.

The main thing is getting rest. I wish you the best.

Professional Medical Care

To all of you I highly recommend that you seek professional medical care and especially from a doctor who specializes in back problems. Don't let another day go by without seeking professional help.

Oh yes, the wrong mattress can be a major cause of back pain.

Hello Sherrill,

Sorry to hear about the pain you are experiencing.

Whenever that situation arises, it is time (the sooner the better) to see a highly respected neurologist/spinal surgeon. PLEASE don't delay, you will likely just make things worse delaying seeing a professional medical doctor.

Do stay in touch and let me know how you are doing.
