Ok, well I am kinda worried that my doc is going to induce me b/c of my history of seizures... Well, I don't want to have an epidural, I want to go natural and have the feeling of all the pain Smile a few ladies I know told me that it is impossible to go painmed free in an induction b/c you are confined to your bed and the contractions are stronger... Is this true? Sad

Absolutely not.

I was induced on .August 9th at 5am.

I didn't receive my epidural until .August 10th around 8:30am or so.

My daughter was born at 9:50am.

I did the majority of my labor without pain medication. You can change your position as often as you like. The .I.V is on a stand with wheels, and you can do quite a few things right around your bed. They had me try sitting and rocking on a labor ball while I leaned my head against the bed.

The only reason I needed an epidural at all was because of the transition period, which is the most intense part of labor. It doesn't last long, and if I had waited just a little while longer, I probably would not have needed my epi after all. I was just overwhelmed at how intense the contractions became, because before then I was handling labor just fine.

Every woman's labor is different. Just concentrate on your own experience, shut out every voice that tells you that you can't do it, and handle one contraction at a time. You'll be just fine!

Thanks so much for that Smile I thought you were automatically confined to your bed Smile I didn't know you could sit on the ball and things like that Smile I feel more confident that I can do it now Smile

In my long labor with my son, I was given pitocin (which is the induction drug), and I never had any medication. No epidural. No shots. No nothing.

It is doable. The choice is yours. Good luck!
