I had professional photos of lucas taken a
couple weeks ago and I just recieved them
back to choose which I want to purchase.
I didnt go anywhere special, a company
came to the mom and baby group I go to and
took photos of them all in like old
victorian clothes, with old bikes, balls,
baskets and flowers around them. Its so
cute!
There's 4 different ones to choose from.
I want to get 3, the 4th is too similar to
one of the others. But 2 hes not smiling
in...Kinda looks tense...So would u guys
buy them of your kids even if they arent
smiling? I still think he looks adorable
smiling or not. Also its going to cost me
around £60 / $114...Considering im on
benefits and its coming upto christmas
time...Do u think thats too much to spend
on 3 photos? They are size 8"x6" or 10"x
8".
Ive never done this before, its his first
photos so im not sure
What do u think? Any comments
appreciated!

Well i'm sure they would be cute wether he
is smiling or not, but $114 is a lot for 3
pictures!! I don't think i'd ever spend
that much ..

I think it's too much, personally. A
photo is a photo at the end of the day and
you can take loads on your own camera for
much less than that which you will cherish
just as much.
I know it's nice to have professional
photos done but, like you say, you're not
flush with cash so perhaps it would be
better to put the money you would have
spent on the photos aside and use to buy
some lovely christmas presents?

I have a lot of good photos with brayden
taken with my digi cam and end up spending
around 60$ to get them developed, and
that's having triples!

dress him up in a costume and bring along
stuff to put around him...I think im going
to get 3. Send 1 to my parents for
christmas (even tho they arent speaking to
me atm), and keep 2 myself. Hes growing
so fast, I want them for memories n all
that...Lol too cute.
Thanks for replies.

Why aren't your parents speaking to you?
Is it because of the new pregnancy or
don't they know yet?

if you send 1 to your parents be sure to
copy it!
And...I don't understand why your on
benefits and spending that much money on
pictures when you could be using it for
your son, or buying stuff for the other
baby your having.
I would rather my tax money be used to buy
diapers, formula, clothes rather than a
few stupid photos for 100 and something
dollars.
That's just retarded.

you could buy a disposable camera for 3$
you could put a white sheet over your
couch, give your kid a cute blanket and
snap them yourselves, get them developed
and have like 24.
You get money to take care of your kid?
Go you! I'm glad your life is so easy,
and wish tax payers knew what you were
doing with their money, spenting 100$ on a
few stupid ass professionals.
Again, .R.E.T.A.R.D.

Yup becks!
Dalicia if being around for my son 24
hours a day makes me retarded in your
eyes, thats 100% fine by me! I
understand you being a douche bag about
it, shame things are so much harder for
teen moms in america, but thats not my
fault. Before u judge too, u should at
least know more about it. Like 1 example
is if I worked, I would have less money,
.A.N.D not see my son all day..Yeh I
should def pick that option
edited to add 'my' lol

I am on state benefits now too cause its
gonna take a while to sort out payments
from f**kerface and I need money to live
on! It was damn hard to go from being
very 'well off' to living on £100 ish a
week. So far he hasn't contributed squat
for the kids
luckily my boss is going to let me go back
to my old job working from home but thats
in 2 months.
I was a college u see but cause of problem
breaking up with me my whole life has been
turned upside down. I am hoping to get
the child support agency payments sorted
out soon. He said he only wants to give
me money the 'official' way so he knows
i'm not ripping him off
p.S- I told him I want a divorce :p

It works completely different in the uk
compared to the american welfare system,
so dalicia's comments are irrelevant to my
situation.
Sorry about your ex beck, hope hes still
going to be there to help you with the
kids

i agree with you 100%. I am extremely
lucky that my job is from home and only
takes up 2-3 hours of my time so I can do
it in the evenings when they are asleep
(its supposed to take me 6 hours but i'm
good at what I do so it takes me alot
less)
dalicia please don't judge because in
london it costs about £200 ($381) a week
for childcare and most people earn not
much more than that from their wage. Add
to that rent, bills etc and you are left
struggling to survive as well as not
seeing your child.
If I didn;t have my job to go back to I
would have no choice but to be on benefits
too til my kids go to school living in
london

I don't think .Dalicia was bashing being
on benefits. She was bashing spending
money on unnecessary things when you don't
have much money in the first place (hence,
being on benefits).
Which is why she gave an example of a way
.Allie could take nice pictures of .Lucas
without spending so much.

Lol. Its ok. People on benefits tend to
get a bad name but I know a few close
friends of mine who are on benefits and
are desperate for a job but can't afford
childcare. Its ridiculous. Working tax
credit covers some but its dependent on
your wage and they will only pay a maximum
of £100 per child or something and, as we
both know, the cost of living is very
expensive in london.
Paying full rent, council tax, bills etc
will mean you are earning the same as, if
not less, than your benefits whilst at the
same time busting your ass and not seeing
your kid.
It is not a fair deal. Tony blair should
do more to help people with childcare. No
wonder there are so many unemplyed people!

Aya she was, shes done it a lot in the
past.
If we got less benefits, I would work.
Which is what most have to do over there,
even working 2 jobs. But I dont have to
right now so I wouldnt choose working 12
hours a day, never seeing my son, having
him stuck in daycare all day long having
others raise him, and end up with less
money cos store jobs pay cr@p and im not
qualified for better paying jobs. I'll go
back to college part time once he is in
school, so I can get a better job
eventually.
No offence to anyone using daycare, I
just meant a mothers care is best and im
lucky I can provide that and dont need to
put him in one.

aya is right, and I seriously dont think
you need to be on benefits when the first
place its to spend on your kids, and your
spending it on a few photos.

.I don't see anything wrong with being on
benefits if you need them, but I agree
with .Dalicia that you should not spend
the money you receive so freely on
expensive things when you could do the
same thing more cheaply.
