Will It Hurt the Baby?

What can high blood pressure do to the
baby? I posted earlier about my trip to
labor and delivery last night, but i'm so
scared that my blood pressure is going to
hurt my baby I don't get to see
my doctor until next thursday. Will my
high blood pressure harm her? I'm scared
b/c the doctor said it was so serious
yesterday, she thought about inducing me
this morning unless it went back down...
Why would she send me home to worry? I
mean, i'm glad i"m home, but i'm so
worried about my baby did any of you
ladies have super high blood pressure?

Are you on bedrest? Mine hasn't been
nearly as high as yours but i've been on
bedrest for the past month and that helps
to keep it down. I also had protein in my
urine but my bloodwork came back good.
From what I understand, high blood
pressure isn't going to harm the baby, but
if it were preeclampsia it would affect
the oxygen getting to the baby. I'm
sorry, i'm not very informative. Since
you didn't come back positive for
preeclampsia they probably just want to
monitor you for a few days. It's hard not
to but try not to worry!

Yes, I am on bed rest, sort of. I am not
allowed to go back to work the rest of the
week and maybe not after if my urine
sample results are not good. I have to
give samples until 3:00 today, and then I
have to take it to the hospital lab for
them to examine it. Are they looking for
protein? I'm trying not to worry. It's
hard though. I don't want anything bad to
happen to my baby I love her very
much. If you don't mind me asking, what
were your numbers? You said it wasn't as
high as mine, but how high was it? Is
mine seriously high?

120/90 is the highest mine has been. The
120 always stays the same, and the other
number has been going up and down between
70-90. I've had protein in my urine once
and had to do bloodwork twice. I've been
on bed rest and i've had to do weekly non
stress tests. Oh, and I had an
ultrasound. I didn't have to do the 24
hour pee test though, probably because my
numbers weren't too high. I go in today
for my last .N.S.T. And to schedule my
induction, but i'm overdue. Hopefully
you're fine, I wouldn't worry unless they
give you something to worry about. If you
have preeclampsia they'll most likely
deliver her soon. Good luck!

High blood pressure will not harm your
baby but it could make you really sick and
develope pre-eclamcia. The reason that
they would deliver you is because it's
sometimes the only way to get it to go
back down. It's pregnancy induced
hypertension and if your not preggers it
wouldn't normally be that high...Know what
i'm saying????? So the only reason they
wanted to deliver the baby was to make it
go back down....They are worried about you
and your health.
I had pre-eclamcia that turned into
seizures and they had to deliver my baby.
Right after I had him everything went
back to normal, my pressure, plateletts
and proteins in my urine. I was only 26
weeks along but you are a lot farther
along than that if I am not mistaken????

Yes, I am 36 weeks. Another thing...
Yesterday, the doctorasked me if I was
having headaches yet and I said no. But
ever since I woke up this morning, I have
been having headaches on the right side of
my head right above my temples and down
through the rest of the side of my head to
my ear... It only lasts a few seconds,
but it happens every few minutes... Are
these the headaches my doc was talking
about? You ladies are wonderful you are making me
feel so much better thank you

High blood pressure can be accompanied by
headaches....Normally the headaches will
be so bad that you will see black spots
that obstruct your vision. You need to
call your doctor if you have these because
I did and about 1/2 a hour after arriving
at the hospital I started to have
seazures. If you think that they are bad
enough you should call your doctor and see
what they say.

doctor... Don't you think I should? Even
though i'm not swollen?

I had high blood pressure near the end of
my pregnancy aswell as protein in my
urine, and at my 37 weeks check up it went
really high and he did an ultrasound and
the baby was small and they decided it was
best for him to come out , and I was
induced and out he came hehe, so u never
know.

Your blood pressure #'s sound pretty high,
if I were you, I would call the dr and try
to keep as calm as possible, even though
it is easier said thatn done! How far
along are you? I think you said that not
too long ago but my memory is short
termed. I am not a dr but I care about
people!

I am 36 weeks. I called the doctor, and
of course, he admitted me to l&d and I
had to stay all night this time. My blood
pressure stayed low as long as I was in
bed, and my labs came back normal. They
did 2 non-stress tests and they let me go
early this morning but they said that my
doctor wants me to come back 2 times a
week for a non-stress test.
Why? I'm not quite sure why they want to
do this... Does this mean something is
wrong? I go again on monday and then I
see the doctor and have and ultrasound on
thursday and then I have the non-stress
test. They said my baby was reacting well
to the tests when I was in the hospital
last night, so why would he want to do
them 2 times a week?

Probably because it is fluctuating. They
want to keep a close eye on you and on
your little one.
Better to have a doctor that is
overprotective, than a doctor who is too
lax and couldn't care less.
how are you feeling today, babe?

Yeah, I guess I would have him overly
cautious for the protection of my baby
I feel ok... I'm
just kind of frustrated b/c it seems like
my bp is high, and then as soon as the
admitted me and hooked up the iv it stays
down. The highest it went last night was
159/94. The nurse said that's not too
bad, which makes me happy. But, i'm
afraid that this is just the beginning...
I'm worried that since it's fluctuating,
it's eventually going to go up and stay
up... I don't see my doc until thursday,
but I have a nst on monday.

Yeah, that's probably why they want to
keep an eye on it. If it goes up and
stays there, that could be dangerous.
Are they letting you go back to work, or
are you on maternity leave?

He told me to resume regular activity.
The nurse said b/c the trend is that my bp
stays down when i'm laying down, and the
doctor wants to see the nst when I am
still active, to see if the high bp is
effecting the baby and how much. She said
since they couldn't get my bp to spike
while I was in the hospital. Sounds kinda
scary though... Why would I want my bp to
spike?
