Possible causes of memory loss and fatigue Posted: 11-04-06 11:04am
I am facing a problem with my memory. I
tend to forget things that i am doing.
This leaves me in a confused state whether
I have correctly completed what I have
started todo or not.
I also tend to forget things shown to me
or what I have been doing.
Other thing is that I continuously feel
tried. Be it morning or evening. My body
does no respond actively.
You can visit a neurologist and mental
health doctor (psychiatrist) to
exclude,confirm, or distinguish either a
mental or physical reason for the memory
loss and fatigue you are experiencing.
There are several types of memory loss:
1. Transitory forgetfulness. This type of
memory loss could be due to
psycho-physical fatigue and exhaustion,
abusing sedatives or neurotic disorders.
2. Amnesia (partial or complete lack of
recall of some past time period). Amnesia
can be either psychogenically conditioned
(as in neuroses) or bodily conditioned (as
in brain concussion, epilepsy, brain
insult, inflammation etc.).
3. Hypomnesia can decrease recall of
certain events or time periods). This
condition can be either psychogenic in
nature (neuroses) or physical in nature
(there is structural damage in the brain).
During neuroses, memory loss can be due
to a preoccupation with subjective
emotional problems or because recall of
some events causes too much anxiety for
the brain and such events become
suppressed in the subconscious
(forgotten).
Memory loss caused physically is usually
part of a chronic psycho-organic syndrome
(dementia) which is manifested not only
with memory loss but also with disturbance
of the perceptions, thinking,
intelligence, consciousness, etc. It
seems that a mental health professional
such as a psychiatrist or psychologist in
combination with a neurologist can help
lead you in the right direction toward
diagnosis and eventual treatment of your
symptoms.
