Recovered From Eating Disorder? Posted: 11-05-06 21:15pm
I just had a couple questions about how
having an eating disorder has affected
different aspects of your life once you
have recovered...
I was bulimic for 2 years but have stopped
this behavior since last january...
I feel that having an eating disorder will
always be a part of my identity because it
has truly shaped who I am. Does anyone
else feel like this?
Also, how has it affected your personal
life, how you view yourself? And how do
you think it affects your relationships?
When and do you tell someone about your
past?
Thanks for any input!

i'm recovering from bulimia and eating
disorders nos (not otherwise specified).
I feel just like you say: no matter what I
do to keep this awya, I keep thinking
about it. But i'm recovering, alright.
At least that. But it's difficult. Some
people who know about this look at me as
if they were with nausea or something like
this. And my relationship with my bf has
also been affected by all this...
If you want to talk, i'll be here. Good
luck and keep being strong!

I'm recovering from an eating disorder,
which i've had since I was about 14, and
i'm now 20. Its taken many metamorphisis
in that time, and i've been the docs and
psychiatrist...But I feel this time is for
real. I have told 2 friends of mine
wilingly, and they are close friends. I
dont advertise that I used to, and
somewhat still do suffer because I dont
know...I feel judged? People who've not
been there dont get it I guess, and i'm
freaking glad they dont...It means they've
no idea of the hell. I feel like i'll
always be concious of my weight, and 'fat
days' will be more intense than other
people, that when something goes wrong
i'll want to blame my 'fat'. But I think
I can be stronger than all that (well...I
hope so anyway!). Ooooh sorry for the
ramble, hope it made sense

After being bulimic for 2/3 years, I am in
recovery atm..9weeks on monday of normal
eating
im chuffed..But yeah, everyday is an
uphill struggle.Ive put on 45lb in that
time (ok, I was pretty underweight) but
does anyone else have real trouble
digesting food?
Im constantly bloated, which makes me feel
a million times fatter than I am (doesnt
help with purging urges) and am in so much
discomfort most of the time.
Also..I hate having a period again after
not having it for a year or so.
On the plus side, I have tits and an arse
now.I can eat in public, and with
friends.I have more self confidence in
general, and the money im saving from not
binging!!
Im chuffed for anyone else in/recovered

Roopoo...
I too have digestive problems now too.
Any time I eat any fiber I get extreamly
bloated and gassy. I went on zelnorm
which has helped a little bit, but the
problem is still there. I'd talk to your
Dr. And see if they can help you.
Congrads on the recovery

Hi, there.
I went to the a general surgeon this week
and he put me on a 'diet' because I may
have ibs.
Btw, i'm a little heavier and i'm affraid
of getting a lot heavy even before
christmas so i'm checking what I eat... I
son't even want to be 120 again, as I was
last year by christmas time. :s
