Raspberry Leaf Tea?
Posted: 11-09-06 06:40am

When is the best time to start drinking it in pregnancy. As it allows the contracting uterus to work more effectively and so may make the birth easier and faster. But dont want to start drinking it too early Question

I really don't know. I was told to avoid raspberry leaf tea by my doctor throughout the entire length of my pregnancy.

I read that you can start drinking it at around the 32nd week. I have raspberry leaf supplements, but I always forget to take them. Meh.. I don't even know how effective they are, so i'm not worried!

I have read that raspberry leaf tea has the opposite effect that you said - raspberry leaf tea is commonly used during the menstrual period to relieve cramps by relaxing the uterus; I have used it for this purpose and it worked quite well. So, I don't know where you got the information that it makes your uterus contract, but I wouldn't trust that source. If you're looking to induce labor or something, try castor oil...Or sex. Both have been known to bring on labor.

do not use castor oil unless you want to be stuck in a sh*tty situation. Pun intended.

personally I was always told to avoid it as it does cause the uterus to contract and can cause early labour.

It is said to make labour easier...

But yeah I wouldn't want to risk it at all.

I did drink it with my 1st but that was years ago, I was only in labour for 1hr with no pain relief or stitches, not saying it was because I drank it just though I may as well give it a go this time aswell.

think I may have answered my own question.

I have been drinking this organic pregnancy tea and they recomd to mix it was raspberry leaf tea at 34 weeks, and drink 3 or more glasses a day. The stuff is like baby cat nip! Everytime I make a cup and sit down to drink it the baby starts to go buck wild! Its soooo awesome
