Question About Blood Work
Posted: 11-09-06 15:00pm

I posted last saturday on my elevated white blood cell count, because I was curious if any of you have experienced it and if so if you could tell me what the heck is going on. I don't feel sick, look sick, I am eating, drinking, and excreting (sorry tmi) just fine.

Today I called my pcp to get my latest results from the 11/2 testing, as they are slow and i'm really quite concerned. At first the woman wouldn't tell me, she kept saying I should call my ob for the results. Then I guess she could tell I was getting ready to come through the phone after her Evil or
Very Mad , so she told me. My white blood count is higher 16.8, my red blood count is low now (it was high last week), and now my liver enzymes are high. Guess I wish I hadn't pushed the issue.

I have a call into my ob to get her take on it and to get some kind of reassurance, but she has not called back yet.

Can anyone give me some insight or positive words? Question

You can try to talk to your ob's nurse or the assistant, just stay on them until you get some answers unless someone here might be able to help you out.

Thank you sandy for your reply. Part of me just wants to vent about it, because I don't understand. Obviously I want answers, but am having no luck getting in touch with my ob, her nurse, or anyone who knows anything. I worry so much this time around.

In reading, you ladies are very good to eachother and if nothing else give moral support!

Thanks

I don't know what the issue would be with them being high....I do know that it could mean that you have a .U.T.I. Now if they are really low then it's a problem because the white blood cells help you clot and you could bleed out if they are too low.

Thank you very much for allowing me to vent. My doc is sending me for more tests on my liver to see why that is elevated. She isn't as concerned with the white blood cell count being high, because I don't feel sick and my physical came back with no virus/infection.
I still have a while to go before I can hold my son. 20 weeks if all goes well.
I had my daughter at 28 weeks, and they never really found out why. My doc says everything is going great and I shouldn't worry so much. She's really great and I do trust her, but I still stress.
