1 Week Old!

Finn will be a week old tomorrow. Sigh...
We went to the pediatrician yesterday and
he said he's perfect and we're doing a
wonderful job. He's in the 50th
percentile for weight and head size, and
75th for length.
He's a hearty eater! He's up to 3oz every
3 hours or so.
He's so good, he rarely cries. He has a
fussy period every night for about an hour
where we just pass him back and forth and
put him in his bouncy chair, which he
loves. He's getting to the point where he
doesn't cry when we change him anymore,
maybe he's getting used to it or maybe
it's because his circumcision is all
healed.
I'm convinced I have the perfect baby, he
is the best sleeper. Nothing wakes him,
the dog barking, the smoke alarm going
off, the vacuum, nothing. Last night he
slept from 12:30-6:30 then took a bottle
and went right back to sleep until 9. Not
bad at all! Of course I was paranoid that
a newborn would be sleeping 6 hours
straight so I got up twice and made nick
get up once to check on him (he's in a
pack n play in our room). The night
before he slept about the same,
12:30-4:30, had a bottle and went back to
sleep until the alarm woke us up at
8:30.
I'm so in love.
And of course, here are more pics!
His birth announcement photo -
milk mouth!
one of the few pics of him awake -

Awwww! That first picture is *priceless!*
wow, what a cutie.
I think every new parent worries about
their baby. I checked .Alyvia's breathing
for weeks when she was quiet for
longer than a half hour. I still do it
occasionally. At least when they're
crying, you know they're breathing.
.Finn looks a lot like .Cam in that last
picture, doesn't he? Or is it just me?

A wk already? Time has been passing sooo
fast lately. He is beautiful, .Bridget!
How has your dog been reacting to him?
I'm kinda worried my .Boston is gonna be
all jealous when I bring my daughter home
cuz he's been getting *all* of my
attention for the past 8 months or so
since he was a baby. Like I said, he's
soo human like and i'm soo worried he's
gonna feel neglected .

I bet this is one week you will never ever
forget, I think he is starting to look a
little more like your hubby. He is just
such a doll!
Wr17 I asked her kind of the same question
about her .Boston amd she never answered
me.
Did .Finn's dr say he gained any weight or
grew any? He looks different with his
eyes open! I love the avatar pic!
Happy one week almost .Finn!

Thanks everyone! See how sneaky I was
about posting more pics?
Sorry sandy, I must have missed when you
asked about my dog. Anyway, he's being
much better than we were expecting. He's
a great dog to me and nick and my family
but he's a vicious beast to other people
so we were really worried about how he'd
react to the baby. On top of bringing a
new baby into the house, we also had to
mess up his routine by sending him to stay
with my parents while we were in the
hospital, so he was there from thursday to
tuesday. I would never leave them alone
together but we've been letting him smell
finn and get close to him whenever he
wants to. He's been very curious and so
far so good. I hope he continues to stay
nice!
Oh, and finn had gained 2 ounces and grown
1/2 an inch. He was 8.5 at birth and 8.1
when we left, at his appointment he was
8.3. That seems big but he still doesn't
fit into any of his clothes. He only has
1 outfit that fits him!

i'm so worried about how .Tux (my .Boston)
will react to the baby coming into the
house. I don't think he would ever hurt
the baby, but i'm expecting him to be
extremely curious. He's never been around
a baby before, but he loves kids. I have
a 4 yr old cousin who is around alot and
he loooves playing with her. He doesn't
like "strangers" too much and it takes him
a while to warm up to people. I'm hoping
he will realize that she isn't here to
hurt him or take over, but that she will
be sticking around. I'm praying he will
fall in love with her and be protective
over her!

When bringing a new baby into the house
with a dog, get your partner to bring
home one of the babys outfits for the dog
to smell to get them used to the smell of
the baby. You will find that they are
more accepting.

Aw great pics!
I wouldnt risk it if I had a dog with a
vicious/snappy/unfriendly streak in it.
No way! Terriers are more likely to be
that way arent they? Something about
terrier breeds...Snappy and nipping you?
Hm

Finn is adorable! He's got such a sweet
little face. I love the pic of his eyes
open.
I think your dog will grow to really like
.Finn. My dog is leary of strangers and
has to warm up to someone before they can
get near him, but he loves my husband and
I as well as our families. But he was a
bit curious at first, and we let him sniff
her. And now that she's on the floor
these 2 are inseperable. She's good at
grabbing his ears and pulling until all
you can see are the whites of his eyes.
Of course we're trying to teach her to be
nice as I want to teach her respect for
animals...For her safety and theirs. But
I think if you keep including him on
things, and let him sniff .Finn that they
will be fine. I have a .Chihuahua....He's
not a typical one either....He doesn't
bark. How did I luck out?

he's really lovely, I think he looks a lot
like you.
But the comment I quoted worries me a
little.
Maybe i'm just a panicker but does he turn
his head towards sounds when he is
awake?
Is it normal for babies to sleep through
loud noises like smoke alarms and dog
barks?

Yes it's totally normal.
Nana will not wake to an alarm clock going
off for 5 mins, my dog barking, my
yelling, nothing.
I go practically into a coma when I sleep,
so she gets it from me.
The vaccuum actually soothes a
baby as it mimics the sound of the womb.
The say the blood flow is sooo loud in the
womb that it mimcs a vaccuum, white noise,
and traffic.
It's craaazy!!
Oni sleeps soo deep it's insane!!
But I had a bad temper when I was pregnant
and screamed all the time. So of course
she screams, but it's a yell and not a
cry!!
Take advantage of his deep sleeping. You
can get all kinds of things done around
the house.
But you need to rest, as a c section is a
serious surgery. Let your man take the
pics!! baron sucks at
taking pics!!!

ok, I can understand white noise and even
the vacuum (i've been known to sleep
through the vaccuum) and traffic.
But alarm clocks (does oni really sleep
through?? Omg lol), and sudden loud
noises, I just found a bit odd.
But if it's normal then that's ok
i learnt something today!
