I have heard a year is a good amount of time to breast feed. I have been told to do it at least 6 months, and you can breastfeed for as long as you want.. There are those women that breastfeed there 5 year olds! But I think by two.. That should be long enough

my friend breastfed her boys until they were all turning two. That's when I plan on breastfeeding until the more breastmilk they get, the more beneficial it is for them it's awesome that you are rethinking how long you want to do it for that just shows how much you love your child and anyways... I heard breastfeeding can be quite addictive!N hehehe

I breastfed .Brian until he was 3 1/2 months, and .Jordan until he was 5 months. I was planning on breastfeeding until they hit about 9 months, but I was producing enough to fill their expanding bellies

I've been breastfeeding for 4 months and plan on doing so until he's at least a year old. I've heard that the breastmilk isn't as beneficial after the first year since they are eating more and more regular foods. But if you can do it longer...Good for you!

Amelia is 4 months old on friday and I am still breast feeding. She get a little rice cereal at night time to help her sleep better/longer at night time. But she eats that off a spoon. No bottles for her. But I bring her to work with me so it's easy for me to continue breast feeding her.

Thanks for the replies! Ive cut it down since hes been on solid food aswell. Im thinking i'll cut out feeds slowly until hes just getting it once at night before bed, and once in the night. Then i'll probably try stop altogether when he gets to a year old and put him in his own bed & own room to sleep.
