Has Anyone Found a Cure??? Posted: 11-12-06 11:19am
I'm 20 and been suffering with anxiety for
about 4 years now. I cannot rid it for
the life of me and its getting to the
stage where I want to kill myself. It
makes me nauseus and unable to eat. Ive
tried all thes relaxation methods and they
honestly do not work...I'm scared that
trying something lik the linden method and
mdication will not work.
Does anyone have any suggestions???
Please help me!

You so sure it's anxiety? Any other
symptoms? Pm me a full list of symptoms
because i'm sure there are more. Also
let me know if you notice any differences
when you eat certain things.

Well other than the usual temperature
going up and down...Not being able to
breathe, shaking and having a feeling of
constant doom....I feel like thw worlds
going to end on my shoulders....I didnt
think food affected me but I know alcohol
does...And sometimes chocolates and sweet
things.
What do you think it could be if its not
anxiety??

Give cbt a try. It takes a lot of
dedication, you need to practice the
exercises daily but if you do you can get
control of your anxiety and free up all
the energy it consumes. I was skeptical
when I started my group but am a true
believer now :d

I think cognitive training might help you
a lot. Try and get involved in it or a
group. It has worked wonders for me.

maz, i've had the same problem for years,
when i get it bad, i can't even speak, i
freeze up mentally and just rock and rock
back and forth and moan, like a frightened
animal. the only med that has be
functioning is xanax, there is a generic
of this medication. it's a tranquilizer.
i've tried everything and made my anxiety
worse.
xanax is addictive and yes, i'm addicted.
i couldn't go out the door without having
the calming affects of this med.
yes, feelings of doom, loosing control,
you name it, that's anxiety.
i'm prayin for ya!

I have an anxiety disorder as well and
went for weeks without eating and ended up
borderline anorexic. I ate so little that
when I tried it made me sick. I had to
slowly start with rice cakes and work
myself up to fruits and eventually was
able to eat again. I have to tell you
though that not eating is not helping in
fact it is making your symptoms much
worse. Not only do you have an anxiety
disorder, but now you are starving
yourself which comes with very similar
symptoms. I also take Xanax and it has
worked wonders for me.
I want to humbly correct the previous post
and state that Xanax is not addictive, but
can be dependency forming. This means
that you don't have to take more and more
to get the same effect, but you could
experience withdrawl after prolonged use.
If you have an anxiety disorder it is
likely that you will battle on and off for
most of your life. There are many things
that can help you manage this disorder,
but there is no real cure. Xanax has
helped me manage my anxiety along with a
better diet, exercise, and meditation. I
can't stress how helpful meditation is for
anxiety disorder. If I miss one morning
of meditation my day is usually a
nightmare even with the drugs.
Quit all recreational drugs including
alcohol, nicotine, and caffeine!
Caffeine is a stimulant and the last thing
an anxious person needs is a stimulant, so
stop that immediately. You will have a
headache for a couple weeks if you drink a
lot of caffeine, but some Advil should
help and you will notice a change just
from that little step.
Others have mentioned CBT and that is good
advice. I do think CBT is kind of a
watered down meditation though, so in my
opinion meditation is the better option.
I wish you all the best and if you have
any questions don't hesitate to ask.
