I Need All the Advice I Can Get Please! Posted: 11-14-06 20:07pm
Ok i'm now 7 months prego, and I went to
the doctor today everything is fine and
i'm doing great so I thought. Well I
noticed a small bump on the outside of my
yoo-hoo and got a little worried. There
is no irritation no burning nothing like
that. So when I told my doc that I
noticed it he checked it out for me and
told me that it's a wart I know how blah!
I feel sooooo nasty but he said that
sometimes prego women get them and that
it's not herpes or anything like that but
i'm still worried. He said that it won't
cause any harm to the baby and that I can
still have him vaginally because it's
small he just wants to keep an eye on it.
He also said that it would go away once I
have him. But i'm worried that it might
be hpv. I looked some stuff on line to
get some more info and that's one of the
symptoms. So has anyone else had or have
this prob when they were prego? If so
please tell me should I worry?

A wart would be hpv. Is he testing you
for hpv?
The hpv virus that causes warts is not the
hpv virus that is responsible for possibly
causing cervical cancer. They are
different strains of the same virus. It
is possible to have both strains at
once.
If you have warts, they can go away on
their own or you may need to have them
removed.
Warts are sexually transmitted - but you
shouldn't worry about them. They will not
affect your baby or your pregnancy at all!
Have your doctor explain genital warts to
you further.

Thanx so much. Now would it make a
difference that my last pap was normal is
it possible that it would show up now not
then?

if there are no warts on your cervix, then
it wouldn't show up on a pap smear. A pap
is only the cells on your cervix and
cervical canal.
Warts are hpv. Hpv is sexually
transmitted. Warts are not high risk hpv
(like the commercials you see on tv). But
they aren't any less worrisome.
Get your questions together and write them
down for your next doctor's visit.
