Ok I have a question.. I know its silly but I have three dogs.. I have two little 10 pounders andt hey dont shed and then I have a regular 45 pound mutt. Do you think this will be bad for the baby.. Should I consider an alternative. Anyone have animals and a baby? As well were you able to care for them after the baby was born??

you'll get a lot of people saying its bad because of the dander and haitr and all but in all honesty, everyone I knwo who has had children and animals are completly fine. They need to be introdeced to that anyhow so their immune systems can build. I have 2 cats a rabbit and a dog and my nephew is just fine living with them! Hasn't been sick once! Just make sure they don't lick the baby in its face!

I gave my dogs away but only because they were insanely jealous of anyone who came near me. It was so funny, they would never let my husband in the house so I would have to lock them in the bedroom with me at night and then they wouldn't let him in there either! Laughing the look on his face every night was priceless!! But I had two big *ss amstaffs. Alekszandra and vladymir

i thought whitney would be rough or mean to dalton but to my surprise she's awesome around him! He sticks his arms and hands in her mouth and she just moves away form him!

I have one cat, and she's been absolutely no problem.

I had a bunch of people freaking out at me to get rid of her, because she would suffocate my child, steal her breath by licking the milk on her lips, etc... And .Asia couldn't care less about the baby. When she's cold, she curls up between my ankles. She doesn't go near the baby.

And as far as the cat hair, if you maintain a fairly clean house already, it won't be a problem. Vaccuum your floors and couches at least once a week and you're cool.

Jealousy in dogs is a different issue though. You can google "dogs and babies" or something to that effect and there's tons of articles online that discuss it. I think it really depends on your dog's temperament.

they loved everyone as long as no one came close to me. After that they didn't care who you were, you were going down. They were extremely protective of me.

this is my situation exactly! Lol people were always telling me that our cat would jump in the crib and suffocate him at night. I think she is more scared of him!

I've also heard that babies and children that grow up with pets have less allergies later in life. I'm not sure if that's allergies in general or just allergies to pets.

Yup, exactly! Wink

.Asia isn't bothered with .Aly at all. Occasionally she'll come up and sniff her foot or something, but that's about it. Alyvia is just way too noisy for .Asia! When she cries or is talking to herself, .Asia usually bolts from the room. Our kitty likes the quiet!

I think it'll only get worse when .Aly starts crawling. Asia's going to be living in high places to escape the mobile baby... Shocked

Our cat .Ling is exactly the same way! When we first brought .Noah home, we put him on the floor in his carseat and she came over to him and her tail got .H.U.G.E. And she ran! She still leaves him alone most of the time. Like you said, she will come over and sniff at him and if he makes a noise or kicks, she's out fast!

Haha, .Asia does that too. She fluffs up when she's scared, but her fur is so sleek... So the only thing that gets poofy is her tail! It looks like she stuck her paw in an outlet or something! Cats are awesome Laughing

Asia's a pest, lol. She has an obsession with our refridgerator... She always tries to climb inside of it every time we open it! And she climbs all over clothes fresh out of the dryer. I took that picture when I was 9 months pregnant and was trying to get the laundry sorted, and she waited until .I'd folded the towel and laid her black self right on it! We *always* have little black hairs stuck to us when we towel off... *sigh*

but I love her Wink she's a good girl

I know what you mean about the clothes out of the dryer! She also likes to "help" make the bed when putting clean sheets on it.

The best thing for keeping baby and animals health are to not have indoor outdoor pets, just indoor or outdoor because they make to much dander that way. Unless your really good at grooming. I have 4cats that like to be carried around like babies and a puppy who screams when I leave the room. I wonder how thats going to work when I dont give them all the attention in the world. >.>

After seeing a thing on the news about a couple pits mauling a 1 year old to death, im terrified of having any animal near my kids. I love pomeranians but im terrified one would bite them. I know im a freak or whatever.. Growing up I *always* had a dog.. Or a cat or fish or whatnot.. But now.. I guess im just biased.
