Bleeding At 36 1/2 Weeks
Posted: 11-17-06 12:47pm

Hi,

i have been lurking on this site for about the last year or so, but I haven't really posted much.

I'm 36 1/2 weeks pregnant with my fourth child. My daughter monet (pronounced mo-nay) is 8, my son who we named sabian would be 3, but we lost him due to a cord accident at 37 weeks gestation, my next son, named zander is 2 and now i'm expectig yet another baby boy (our last baby).

Anyways, here I as posting because last night I started bleeding with some small clots. I immediately called my ob who said to come in to the hospital if the bleeding intensified, otherwise lie down and take it easy. The bleeding continued and got slightly heavier, but not too much worse, so we decided to get checked just to be on the safe side considering our past with our first son. I was hooked up to the monitors and the baby looks great, i'm 1 1/2 cm dilated and 50% effaced. The nurse said that most likely I lost my mucus plug. My question to you guys (knowing that you obviously aren't dr's, but needing advice from those who have been through this) is whether any of you had bleeding when you lost your plug. How long did it take for those of you to actually go into labor?

Thanks for any replies. I only went into natural labor with my daughter and the other two were inductions (same for this baby so long as he doesn't decide to come out before the 28th).

Thanks again.

Thanks for the reply. I know I shouldn't get too excited, but I can't help thinking that I could throeotically have my baby at any point (or like you said not for a while)!

Thankfully the bleeding has now stopped, but I did notice a lot of mucus on the toilet paper when I wiped. It's so weird how the body reacts differently to every pregnancy. If only they could all be text book!

This morning I have been experiencing some pain in my stomach, but definitely not cramps, so I doubt this is labor starting. Hopefully soon though.

I go to the dr again on monday for my non stress test, ultrasound and also to see if I have dilated any more. I'm hoping my Dr. Will induce earlier than my scheduled date (the 28th), but who really knows.

Thanks again for the reply.
