Hi

my girlfriend will be 12 weeks tomorrow but has had quite bad morning sickness. She has lost a little weight due to this but has been to see the doc who has checked her out and said she's fine. Her friend said she should be 'showing' by now but there is not even a little bump yet?? When is the average time you start to show? She goes for a scan in 2 weeks so hopefully it will put our mind at rest!

Thanks!

This varies wildly between women.
I didn't show at all at 18 weeks, whereas some girls show as early as 12 weeks.
Typically a woman may notice her clothes are a little tighter by 12 weeks and will begin to show in the 4th - 5th month (16-22 weeks).

And how much a woman will show varies wildly too.

I didn't show until like 30 weeks and even then nobody could tell I was pregnant. It wasn't until 34 weeks or so that people started asking when I was due and stuff.

I started to thicken a little at 12 wks but you couldn't tell that I was pregnant. Shortly thereafter however I ballooned outwards at an alarming rate. By the time I was around five months people kept looking at me like I would go into labor at any given moment... Rolling Eyes

I didn't really "show" until about 20 weeks or so... But a stranger couldn't tell I was pregnant until a few weeks after. Now, at 38 weeks, I don't think I could get any bigger! Smile don't stress about what her friends say, every woman shows differently and at different times. I had people saying that I was showing too early and they thought I was "eating too much"

I agree with the other posters, every female and every pregnancy is different, some females just do not show until later. I just hope that she does not get dehydrated. It is great that she has a boyfriend that cares and I am glad that she is going for an ultrasound, I agree that it will help put her mind at rest. I wish the both of you the best and we are here for both of you!
