Just Some Advice On What My Stomach Is Doing, Please
Posted: 11-18-06 18:13pm

Well..Ive always had problems, a few years ago, I thought I was just getting fat because my stomach was constantly bloated.Because of this, I actually became bulimic, and my stomach, as a consequence was always flat.
Im in recovery now (9weeks, monday) but im having trouble...I go to the toilet about 5times a day, which seems a lot but its often not diahrrea..And in the evenings, regardless of how often I go, I bloat and if im unable to release the gas, I swell up til im in pain and cant move.
My stomach is constantly hard and distended, and often very uncomfortable.
Ive tried pepermint tea, (which makes it worse), peppermint oil capsules, charcoal tablets, b5 (because I thought it had something to do with the way I metabolised fat, as I also have very oily skin, another symptom) and other tablets that removed the undigested..Um, *something* from my intestine, though all of them did nothing, or made it worse.
Im on a wheat detox, cutting out all wheat..And so far, im even worse. Is it worth me continuing with cutting out wheat, or should I go back to the doctor, and ask for a proper examination, or does it sound like a lactose intolerance?
Btw, if its any relevance, my mum has ibs...
Hope someone can help me in some way.

Hey roo,
sorry to hear about all the problems you have been through. I would wait with the gluten thing and go get a good check up. If you do have celiac it should show up in a simple bloodtest. You should have a colonscopy, bloodwork and you should have a stool test done. I'm not much of a beliver in ibs, as I know of too many cases that have turned out to be ibd. Ibd isnt always easy to diagnose/find. Alot of people with the disease have had tests done for years without it revealing itself.

Take care of yourself and see your doctor soon!
