Gaining Too Much Weight Back? Posted: 11-19-06 21:14pm
I also posted this on another forum just
in case
is it possible to gain too much weight
back after being too skinny? For the past
6 months i've been gaining weight and
looking like i'm losing muscle in my
stomach. Now I have gained too much
weight and look like i'm over weight.
It's not just the number on the scale-
it's visible in my whole body.
I've been eating 1200 calories a day
exactly, working out for an hour a day,
and I got a blood test done that came out
normal. I can't do anything to lose it
though! Can my body possibly be gaining
or keeping calories in from eating like
this?

yes, it is, because your body was
different back then and maybe your eating
was different too. It can be an hormone
thing as well.

maybe it's not about the calories but
about the variety and the quality of what
you're eating that is making you get
fatter....

So do you know how long it will take for
my body to balance out so that I can lose
a few pounds and get back to a healthy
weight? I know it's not the food. I
pretty much live off of salad,
fruits,veggies, chicken breast,eggs and
cereal but it all comes out to 1200
calories. I did do the slim fast diet and
weight watchers all summer but I just keep
gaining about 5 pounds every two weeks. I
dont know how it's even possible for me to
gain weight with how I work out and eat.
My body is small so I needed probably 10
pounds on me before when I was skinny to
be the perfect weight. Now i've gained 30
pounds and it's still going up

maybe by doing those plans your body
became eager for calories and started
turning every little thing into fat,
because it was in need of it.
I hope it gets back to the normal soon,
ok?

Thanks so much for your help. I was just
making sure it was possible for my body to
do this with the weight gain from being
too skinny since there is no medical
reason why it is, and my parents and
doctor are confused. I'm jsut not sure
what to do now- I know it will take awhile
to lose the extra pounds but I want to
know how to stop gaining and start
balancing out!

I'm sure you'll find a way. But, of
course, the best would be to see a doctor
to get some professional advice.

I feel your pain,,i was well
underweight..But in the last 2/3months ive
gained 40lb, and its still going up.
All I eat is rye bread, salad and
wheatabix cereal..And im still gaining..I
refuse to look at the scales, but none of
my clothes fit, and I look huge.
I was hoping it was because ive just been
diagnosed with ibs (yaay..Thats what ive
done to myself) so ive been swelling up,
every evening..Which has made me think im
not that fat, its just bloating..
Alas!Im now on drugs, and its just fat.
I think maybe its because our metabolisms
are still getting used to the
change...Theyre still in starvation mode,
so hopefully one of these days theyll
catch on to the fact that we're eating
again then, if we eat the
same amount of calories, but obviuously up
the exercise, we'll slowly start to
lose.
Ugh..But til then, its crap...I hate
feeling and looking so fat..You cant
escape it, it just follows you around
everywere you go.

wow really? It's nice to have someone
else in a similar situation to me. I have
a serious case of ibs that I was diagnosed
with when I was 14 but i've had bad
stomach problems my whole life. I was
hoping it was due to ibs but I spent all
of last year too skinny from my ibs being
at it's worst and not being able to keep
food in me.
Have u seen a doctor about the weight or
do you know it's from your body trying to
conserve calories still? I want to know
how long this is going to go on for!

Roopoo- if you get a chance to see this,
what meds are you on for ibs? And do they
work and help with bloating? I've been
through around 12 medications and can't
find anything to work!

Hey..
Yeah, im on mebeverine
(anti-spasmodics)atm, 3 a day.
It seems to be working actually, fairly
well...Im still slightly bloated (but
then, I always had digestive/bloating
trouble before the mia, so maybe im just
naturally going to bloat) but my gas
problem is very much improved!
I am also taking the reccommended dose of
nux vomica, a homeopathic
treatment..Although, if anyones interested
in homeopathy for bloating, try, if you
can find it, preferably calcarea
carbonica, or, carbo.Vegetablis ..Though
the first is very hard to find, unless its
online.
I was taking charcoal tablets, but I found
they did nothing...And also, they bind any
other medication youre taking.
I also tried peppermint tea, and oil of
peppermint capsules, but, found them no
use at all, possibly due to the fact
theyre stimulants..Intead try camomile.
I have also tried mega dosing on b5
(pantothenic acid) because its reported to
help with oily skin/breakouts (from which
I also suffer..Dont sound like a vision of
health and beauty) as it helps to
metabolise certain fats in your diet,
reducing sebum production, supposedly (i
thought this sounded like a cure..But no
such luck).
But..Im also on a diet..For the first
time..Im doing it the right way.Im cutting
down on food ever so slightly, and upping
my exercising.Im determined to lose 6lb
before christmas...(that means less than
2lb a week..Its not that bad!)
but yes...Go and see your doctor, if its
ibs, and youre suffering mainly with
bloating.Theyll probably try you on
anti-spasmodics.
Woah..Sorry this is so long..How random :s

^ no that helps a lot! I was on bentyl
and donnatol as anti-spastics and also
zelnorm. Like I said, I was on around 12
different meds so I don't even remember
them all! I went on an ibs diet for over
a year and tried things like peppermint
tea, colon cleanses, fibers etc but
nothing seems to have helped. The only
thing i'm worried right now is the weight
thing because it just keeps going up and
there is nothing more I could do about it!
I definitely couldn't eat less or work
out more because I am a runner and I work
my butt off already! Lol
i also am not sure if I want to try
anymore meds right now for the ibs even
though i'm miserable and need to cured to
move away next year. I don't want my body
or metabolism to be messed up more.

Yep, definitely...
At the moment, im only on 2things, but I
was getting so desperate a couple of weeks
ago, I was on so much stuff, I knew it
would probably do more harm than good,
plus, if something did work, I would have
no idea which one it was.
But I am still gaining...Im still a normal
weight, but ive gone up a dress size, so
none of my beautiful clothes fit me
anymore..And I actually dont have the
money for new ones..Arhgh!
im guessing you have done detox's and the
like?Im thinking of doing some kind of bio
yoghurt detox, for a week...Help put the
right bacteria back in my stomach..And
hopefully lose a bit of weight in the
process.
But yeah..I worked it out, im only meant
to be eating about 1200 cal a day too..To
lose 2lb a week, you have to eat 500cal a
day less, and work off 500cal more.
Leaving me with only 200cal worth of
energy for everything else! But, im gonna
give it a damn good try..Though only
eating 700cal a day..Woah!
The only thing is, that if you start to
calorie cut like that, if you do it for a
month, its going to slow your metabolism
further, so when you go back to 1200cal to
maintain your weight.Youll actually start
gaining again.
Its a no win situation.

That's why i'm not sure what to do about
the weight! I don't want to just sit
around and wait for it to balance out but
I also don't want to screw up my body
more! Believe me, i've been in college
shirts and sweat pants for like 6 months
because my body went through such a
drastic change. I use to fit into a 16
slim at abercrombie kids and now the large
sweat shirts seem to barely fit me in the
regular abercrombie store. I cant keep
buying new clothes though b/c I just out
grow them within 2 weeks.
What is the yogurt cleanse you are doing?
