Dreary Days, Stress, And Hotflashes! Posted: 11-20-06 02:28am
This stinks!!! I moved to western wa
state from az and forgot how dreary it
gets here. You do get seasonal affective
disorder; at least I do! That is why
people are so addicted to coffee! I
haven't seen the sun for a week now - one
whole week! Before pregnancy, I was on
meds to help me but now - there is
nothing. I know don't have meds to keep
me from the reality of this utterly
depressing, yet beautiful place. I lived
in az for five years. Anyone else live
in the pacific northwest, england or some
other dreary place that can relate to my
plight???? Is it worse for you during
pregnancy??? I literally want to quit my
job (they won't let me due to contract) in
order to survive emotionally. I have to
convince some doctor to write a doctor's
note then suck up my pride!! I am worried
that my stress levels at work will cause a
miscarriage. I work 45+ a week and take
work home, too, while taking care of a
three year old. Is there anyone out there
that can relate?
Arcadia, you did help me earlier - thanks.
This anxiety stuff just stinks! I am
very severe!!
Hotflashes: I literally wake up in the
middle of the night drenched in sweat. I
also can hardly sleep due to anxiety and
the heat, yet am thrashed due to being
extremely fatigued. I didn't have
hotflashes like this when pregnant with my
three year old. Is this normal at five to
six weeks of pregnancy??? I am so early
and have a lot of symptoms already. I can
believe that I couldn't eat bread with
butter today but could eat potato soup.
The other day, I couldn't even smell on
onion ring and I love onion rings. I
guess ever pregnancy is different. At
least my boobs don't hurt as much.

Did you know that lightbox therapy has
been shown to be very effective in
treating .S.A.D? The boxes are quite
expensive here (bout £200) but might be
cheaper in the .U.S? They are totally
safe for use during pregnancy too.
I can totally sympathise with you though
as I get really affected by the lack of
sunlight here in the .Autumn and .Winter.
I know i'm affected because if the sun
does happen to struggle
through the clouds for a few minutes I
literally feel my body charge up and I
feel instantly happier.
Feeling that and being pregnant sucks - I
fell pregnant in .June 2004 so I had most
of my pregnancy in the .Autumn and .Winter
months and I can remember sitting at my
desk at work and feeling like shouting at
everyone to eff off and running away!
