I skipped the placebo pills and went on to
my other pack. I have done this before
with no side effects. I'm now into my
third week of my second pack, and I have
been spotting/bleeding for a week and have
stomach cramps. I'm wondering if it is
safe just to stop taking my pills so that
I start my period or if I should continue
the week of pills?? I'm concerned that
it could be more than spotting, since it
has been going on for so long.

You can safely skip the placebo pills for
2 packs and take them on the third pack so
that you end up with 4 periods per year.
That is what seasonale does.
It isn't wise to go more than the third
month without taking a break though.
So, yes, carry on until the end of that
pack, then take your placebo's as normal.

Spotting is common in women who take any
hormonal birth control.
If spotting is frequent or "more than
spotting" always see your doctor or gyn -
they may change the type of b/c you are
taking.
If you have cramping or other pains then
see your doctor asap.
Things to look out for when taking
hormonal birth control are:

I know it is common to spot when on birth
control, but I really want to know is if
it is safe to stop my pack when this
happens so that I just have my period
insteading of waiting for the next placebo
pills?

if you have taken your real pills for at
least 21 days then you can skip to the
placebo's instead if you wish - yes.
But it is also safe for you to continue to
the end of the current pack.

Whether you stop or not, you may still
have spotting and other irregular bleeding
issues.
You can stop now if you wish, have a
period, and then stat back up on a new
pack. The main important thing to
remember is to always use at least 21
pills, or else you are risking losing
protection.
There is a new pill on the market, you
have zero periods for year. It is safe to
skip periods, the period you have on the
pill is simply a withdrawal bleed, it is
actually unnecessary.
