It pretty much covers everthing that you want at the time of delivery so that you aren't left thinking about all of this stuff when you are in pain.

You can acctually find birth plans on line and all you do is type in the information that you want. Like who is going to be in the room and if you want meds and what kinds, whether or not your going to breast feed so that they dont' give the baby a bottle...Thinks like that.

here is one.

I think I might have posted this before but I definately had a birth plan.

I knew I didn't want any medical interventoion and that's what I got. Nothing.

They tried to force me to get an iv, but I know my rights and I knew that oxygen and breathing would help just as well. So they had to obey my rights.

I refused an .Episiotomy and got what I wished. I dared her to cut me! And I only needed one stitch.

It's all up to you how you want your birth to go. Let them know you would be interested in a .Doula(i promise they help!!!!!!)!!! Every hospital normally has one or 2 that assist in unmedicated births. But you have to ask!!

Walk around, swat and sway. That's what I did my entire labor. I got into the shower and sprayed the water on my cudda to get it ready to be stretched. It was great.

But right when I got out, I hit transition. Whew...I'm glad it's over!!!

I had my baby within 3 hours of getting to the hospital. I labored 5cm at home.
I consider myself extreemely luck to have had such an easy labor.

Reguardless of how your baby gets here, it's a blessing!!! Just know that you're capable of drug free birth, cuz I know that's what you're intersted in!! Wink

You know I am looking at birth plan sites online right now and I was just researching on the .Episiotomy because it never even crossed my mind on saying if I want one or not. I'm kind of scared to refuse one because I don't feel as confident about my kagle exercising as I should, but at the same time isn't there so much pressure you cant even feel it? Thinking about it I don't think I would want it done.

And I have a doula! I was going to hypnobirthing classes and the women is going to be my doula too. I love her she's awesome. I just had my last class on saturday and she was showing me and my birthing partner different pain relief positions on the birthing ball and what not it was awesome. Im looking forward to chilling out in the jacuzzi while in labor if it all goes well

I am really jealous, because I will never get the chance to have a natural birth...I would love to go thru that. But unfortunatly I will never get the chance.

I wrote one up.. I dont know how its going to cut and paste in here.. But we will see.. For those of you who had birthplans what do you think? I used a website to make this

my wishes for childbirth - claudia

due date: 11/30/06
patient of ----
scheduled to deliver at ----

labor
i would like to be free to walk around during labor.
I wish to be able to move around and change position at will throughout labor.
I would like the lights in the room to be kept low during my labor.
I do not want an iv unless I become dehydrated.
I would like to wear contact lenses or glasses during labor.

Monitoring
i do not want an internal monitor unless my baby has shown some sign of distress.

Labor augmentation/induction
i do not wish to have the amniotic membrane ruptured artificially unless signs of fetal distress.
I would prefer to be allowed to try changing position and other natural methods (walking, nipple stimulation) before pitocin is administered.

Anesthesia/pain medication
i understand pain medication is available please allow me to ask for them if I need them. I do not wish to be visited to discuss any pain medications by hospital staff unless I request to do so.

Cesarean
if my primary care provider determines that a cesarean delivery is indicated, I would like to obtain a second opinion from another physician if allowed.
If a cesarean delivery is indicated, I would like to be fully informed and to participate in the decision-making process.
So I can view the birth, I would like the screen lowered just before delivery of my baby.

Episiotomy
i would prefer not to have an episiotomy unless absolutely required for the baby's safety.
I am hoping to protect the perineum. I am practicing ahead of time by squatting, and doing kegel exercises.
I would like a local anesthetic to repair a tear or an episiotomy.

Delivery
i would like to be allowed to choose the position in which I give birth.
I would like to try to deliver in a squatting position, using my doula or a squatting bar for support. I would like to have my baby placed on my stomach/chest immediately after delivery.

Immediately after delivery
i would like to cut the cord myself. I would like the umbilical chord to stop pulsating before it is cut.
I would like to hold my baby while I deliver the placenta and any tissue repairs are made if I feel able to do so after labor.
I would like to hold my baby for at least fifteen minutes before she is photographed, examined, etc.
I would like to have my baby evaluated and bathed in my presence.
I would like to donate the umbilical cord blood if possible.

Postpartum
unless required for health reasons, I do not wish to be separated from my baby.
I would like to have my baby 'room in' and be with me at all times.

Breastfeeding
i plan to breastfeed my baby and would like to begin nursing very shortly after birth.
Unless medically necessary, I do not wish to have any bottles given to my baby (including glucose water or plain water).
I would like more information about breastfeeding.
I would like to meet with a lactation consultant.
Photo/video
i would like to take still photographs during labor and the birth.
I would like to make a videorecording of labor and/or the birth if possible.

Wow, that's a very detailed birthing plan...Looks good! Girl you're so close now, are you excited? Are you nervous?
I never did a birthing plan. Never thought about it really. You are going to be such a good mother. You are clearly educated on pregnancy and what all is involved, that speaks very highly of you, good job! Smile

Sounds great!!!!!!!!

It's very detailed. Just know that water can hydrate you just as well as an iv. Make sure you don't let them bully you into an iv!!

If they say no water, scarf ice chips, they allow that!! An iv is a last option.

I should have gotten one, I might not have gotten so weak and feverish after her birth. I lost some blood. I didn't get to hold her until the next morning (besides them putting her on my belly immedietly after birth(request that) and for the 5 mins before they took her to the nursery!)

i can tell you now...You're going to be able to do this drug free. I know it. I have no doubt in you at all of your capabilities!!!

I'm soo excited for you to experience this!!!! It hurts sooo goooood girl!!! It's amazing!!
