I Think Im Dieing :p Posted: 11-21-06 11:52am
Ive been really sick latly with bad
allergies, but its begun to turn into
something more, it almost feels like I
have pnamonia (i get it at least every
other year, usualy every year right around
christmas so I know what it feels like) I
keep couphing up phlem and whatnot, its
killing me
i was put on antibiotics on friday
(ammoxacillin, which im actualy allergic
to but if I take benadryl with it im fine)
and its just still been getting worse
i cant go back to my pcp however because I
was told they dont treat pregnant people,
that I either need to find a new pcp or
get my ob to see me, and with state health
insurance its a pain to find someone who
is taking new patiants who takes the
insurance too
so now im laying down trying to rest and
drink as much as my raw throut will allow
me to, while im waiting for my ob's nurse
to call me back so I can ask them what to
do
i was just wondering if anyone could maybe
suggest anything I could try, its hard for
me to think of anything I can do because
it seems if its ok for pregnancys im
allergic to it and if its not ok for
pregnancy then im not allergic to it, its
frustrating, I hate being allergic to so
many things!

You could try breathing steam, it loosens
the congestion and temporarily alleviates
the cough. Also, lemon is good for
cough.

Lemon and hunny are both good for a cough
and sore throat.

I can so sympathise with you because I
have bad allergies too - and i'm asthmatic
so I get chest problems all the time. It
can be really scary. When I was pregnant
I found the only thing I could do to
relieve my chest was to have a hot shower
and inhale the steam. Sleep propped
upright on pillows too, that helps ease
the pressure on your chest.
I took .Piriton (antihistamines) when I
was pregnant too because my allergies got
so bad I was just constantly itching, it
was a bloody nightmare

All I can say is if it is pneumonia do not
lay still in bed.
Sit up and move about if you can.
Pnuemonia will get much much worse if you
lay still and will get much worse if not
treated.
I think it'd be dangerous to ignore this
condition during pregnancy.
Isn't it true that if you go to the er
they have to treat you???

you.

so what if you don't have insurance and
you don't have a permanent address and
someone brings you in or calls 911 because
you were passed out in the street?

Thanks for the advise everyone
ill probably try a hot shower later, its
kinda hard with only one bathroom to find
time to just sit in there, but I bet it
will help
and I have been sleeping on the couch so I
can sleep nearly up right like im sitting
and I know I cant lay down, ive been
getting up and aimlesly walking around my
house every 10 minutes or so then I sit
back down, its just hard with being so
dizzy and all, as ive said I get it almost
every year
but my nurse finally called back and told
me to stick it out a few more days and see
if the antibiotics kick in, and take some
cough medicine so I can sleep and stuff,
so I guess im gonna wait until friday
because thatll be 7 days on the medicine
yep they have to treat you, but my problem
is I dont like hospitals, ive always been
terrifired of them, so I try to aviod
going, but if im not better by friday and
I cant find a new pcp by then, thats
probably where im gonna be ending up

they still have to treat you, most
hospitals have it posted in the waiting
room, something like you will be treated
even if you dont have insureence and you
cant pay, then they go into different
reasons for treatment and whatnot, its
interesting, and most hospitals (at least
around here) will let you make payments if
you dont have insurence

if you don't have insurance you get the
whole bill or if you income qualify they
can fill out paperwork for you in the
hospital to see if the state will pick up
the tab. If you don't have a permanent
address to use then you don't qualify for
the state to pick up they tab and you're
billed directly anyway. Most people just
make small payments each month

Hey I don't know if this will help but I
just saw my doctor for the same sorts of
problems. She told me to try sudafed or
robitassum. So I just picked up some
sudafed that has stuff for allergies,
cough, fever, aches, etc and it seems to
be helping me. My doctor also gave me a
prescription for tylenol with codine just
in case the other medicine didn't help.
Its supposed to help with the cough a lot
better, so maybe ask your doctor about
that. Hope you feel better soon!

the reality is, .American health care is
incredibly expensive. However there are a
very lot of people getting health care
(especially in emergency rooms and
hospitals) who never pay a dime for it.
Like tigres and idony said, you can make
payments - but most of these are even
written off as 'charity' cases. You can
get state help (and you can get it without
a permanent address) and most hospitals
also have a program that helps pay a
portion or all of what the state does not
pay.
You cannot get preventative care this way,
nor can you get a lot of the testing you
might need for various things - but you
can get healthcare. Hospitals must treat
you. -- it is part of the reason
hospitals in poorer communities go broke.
