Possible Cause?
Posted: 11-22-06 10:01am

It seems to me obvious, but perhaps you can poke holes in my humble theory -

premises!!
1. Cancer is caused by mutation in a replicated cell

2. Colon cancer originates from the epithelial cells lining the gastrointestinal tract.

3. (i would guess that...) frequent or large bowl movements shear the epithelial cells off, prompting the remaining cells to replicate to replenish the numbers.

4. Each cell division has a small probability of becoming cancerous, due to transcription mistakes.

Hypothesis!!

The increase in cell replication caused by large or frequent movements of waste leads to an increased probability of cancer.

Which would explain why diet is such a risk factor. The western world has an abundance of food, more than our body needs. The excess probably wreaks havoc on a gi tract that is designed to handle much less.

What do you all think?
