Cesarean Sections Rising In America Posted: 11-22-06 11:37am
I had a baby boy late last year at st
joesph hospital denver, as well as 12
other couples that day. Of the 13
deliveries that day only 1 had a natural
birth. What is the cause? Money.
Hospitals across america are making more
deliveries by c-section today than ever
before. It is a simple procedure not
unlike giving birth which may take many
hours. But this is an operation and
hospitals will profit more from these
procedures. America is not alone though,
at private hospitals in sao paulo brazil
the caesarean rate remains a staggering
80% to 90%. That's roughly four times the
overall rate in the u.S. Due to
corruption though many of these women
don't know it's not better to have a
natural birth. Some even don't know about
the scar it will leave behind. It's also
far higher than the 5% to 15% caesarean
birthrate considered to be an acceptable
range by the world health organization.
My question why aren't people talking
about this? And instead of me calling 100
hospitals to find out what hospital has
the lowwest c-section rate how else can I
find out?

Just write out a birth plan and state you
don't want a c-section unless absolutely
neccessary.

C-section are rising because alot of
teenager are not using protection like
they should be or sleeping with alot of
guys without protection. The highest poll
that I could say is that sexually
transmitted diseases, herpes, aids, and
hiv is the reason why you have c-section.
Most of the time alot of women asked the
doctor to do c-section instead of vaginal
birth. Other than that other reason is
emergency if anything is wrong with the
baby or the mother's pelvic is too small.
I heard that alot of mother isn't happy
with c-section is because of scars that is
left on their body and prolong infection
and stay in the hospital. I do hear that
some women do recover fast.
It's not even just hospital profit and
std's, it's lazy women. I know so many
women who have had c-sections because they
didn't want to do the work. I worked
with this girl who was a week less
pregnant than I am (she was about 8 weeks,
she lost the baby) and she had already
scheduled her c-section. I hate when
girls say they have too have a c-section
because they're too small to have it
naturally. In most cases that's total
caca. You are a woman, you were built to
have babies and your hips will expand to
accomodate. My sister had three
c-sections. The first was necessary, the
other two were scheduled. She used the
excuse that since she had one she had to
have the others which also is mostly
untrue.

You have a higher chance of having a
csection when you have an epideral from
what I have read.
In my case my epidural sped up my
delivery. When I got the epidural I was
at 3 cm. Not 15 minutes later I was at
10 cm, pushed three times and she was out.
I found this on google.
Epidural analgesia does not increase
c-sections
chicago --- injecting spinal-epidural
analgesia in early labor does not increase
cesarean delivery rates and provides
better pain relief and a shorter duration
of labor than systemic opioid analgesia,
according to an article by northwestern
university researchers published in the
feb. 17 issue of the new england journal
of medicine.
