Im so mad that I will not be insured at the time of my babys arrival. My boyfriends company got shut down and now we're left with no benefits. Has anyone given birth with no insurance? How was the service that you recieved from the hospital staff? Im concerned im going to be treated differently. Im also really upset I cant give birth in a private room.

They wont treat you any different, the nurses and staff have no idea how you are paying, they dont see your insurance info. The insurance info goes to the hospitals administrative financial offices.
Are you in the us? Maybe you can try to get medicaid.

No I live in canada. I have some type of coverage, but not all. So I don't have to pay to actually give birth, but I would have to pay to get other things that I would like. Like my own room.

There are a lot of hospitals that don't have private rooms - so not everyone gets that option.

You will be in the hospital such a short amount of time, and if it isn't 'full' you might get a private room anyway (until the bed next to you gets filled anyway).

Good luck.

oh lord all that insurance covers is a private room, everything else is covered by medicare and if you have a natural birth you may not even be there long enough to enjoy the private room.

I didn't have any insurance when I had trey (stupid old company) and didn't have to pay a thing. I even had a semi private room (shared a bathroom with 1 other lady) don't worry about it. If you were in the states i'd say worry but here..Nothing to worry about.
