Fluttering In My Chest
Posted: 11-22-06 17:12pm

I am a 26 year-old female.

I have had this 'fluttery', sometimes 'thumping' feeling in my chest for a little over 2 weeks now. It started off as very occasional - every couple of hours or so - and mainly happened during my working hours (not when I first woke up or anything), but it now seems to have got worse with every day that has passed. So far, I have had only 2 evenings when it hasn't happened but, in general, it is almost constant throughout the day. I feel it when I wake up, while I am at work, when I rest and when I go to bed. There have been some moments when I feel this sudden need to take in a deep breath as though I am not getting enough air - almost breathless, if you like?! Today, I have felt a little light headed.

I must admit, I am very doctor-shy and I have put off going through hope that this feeling will go away, but do you think this is something I should be worrying about? I have never had this before and it seems to be dragging out a while.

I have had that for quite a few years now I too was afraid to go to the doctor but I finally did. I was told it could be caffeine related or anxiety related.. Also hormone changes can do it also. Don't be afraid to go to the doctor you need to go for your own piece of mind

Sounds like what they told me was palpitations... And yeah, I can't have caffeine either. I'm supposed to sleep a lot and not go for long periods of time without eating, too.
