Man to Challenge Existence of Hiv In Court Posted: 11-23-06 17:12pm
This should be interesting.
An hiv positive man convicted of
endangering the lives of three former
partners through unprotected sex is
appealing against his conviction, claiming
the hiv virus does not really exist.
It is believed to be the first time the
existence of hiv has been challenged in a
court of law.
Andre chad parenzee is awaiting sentence
for having unprotected sex with three
women who were unaware he was carrying the
hiv virus.
But his lawyer, kevin borick, today argued
that parenzee's conviction should be
quashed because there is no scientific
proof that hiv actually exists.
Mr borick will call evidence from two
western australian based scientists, who
will argue that the virus has never been
isolated, current testing regimes are
inconclusive and that there is no proof
hiv is transmitted sexually.
Prosecutors plan to call evidence from
five hiv experts, who will claim that
parenzee's defence argument was debunked
by the scientific community in the 1980s.

He Was Found Guilty By South Australian Supreme Court Posted: 12-02-06 20:24pm
hiv man guilty of endangering lives
tuesday jan 31 19:34 aedt
an hiv-infected man has been found guilty
of endangering the lives of three women
through unprotected sex.
A south australian supreme court jury has
found south african born andre chad
parenzee, 34, guilty on all three counts
of endangering life, after earlier hearing
evidence the women had been led to believe
he had cancer.
The court heard parenzee infected one of
the women, a mother of two, but the other
two tested negative to the virus.
One of the women who did not contract the
illness testified she was furious when she
eventually learned parenzee had hiv after
the couple had broken up.
She said she asked whether a woman he had
been seeing since their break-up was also
infected.
"he said he couldn't give a s**t," the
woman said.
"he didn't care if she was sick or not."
parenzee, of the adelaide suburb of
oaklands park, told the trial he did not
tell the women he had hiv because he
feared rejection.
"i had lost friends and close friends by
telling them I had hiv and I was afraid of
losing her," he said of the woman he
infected.
"it was just the fact that I didn't know
how she would react to me telling her.
"i thought she would turn around and leave
me like everyone else.
"i was in love with her at the time."
parenzee, who faces up to 15 years' jail
for each charge, will be sentenced at a
later date.
Parenzee also reportedly had unprotected
sex with a fourth woman after contracting
hiv.
It is understood prosecutors are
investigating whether parenzee will face
further charges over that relationship.
