My Thoughts. Posted: 11-24-06 03:01am
I consider myself pro-life for myself and
I am not happy that 'social' abortion is
so prolific but I would not wish it to be
outlawed. With that in mind, I was
thinking about the course that my life has
taken and whether the choices I have made
would be different if the circumstances
had been different.
For example, I had an unplanned pregnancy
when I was 24 but I was engaged to my
partner of 4 years and we were living
together and very much in love. I did
not even consider abortion. We got
married and are very happy and content
with our little family.
However, I was seeing a man before I met
my husband who was quite abusive to me but
I was young and stupid and thought he
would love me one day. The only birth
control we were using was condoms.
Fortunately, that method never failed us
but what if it had? I was in my final
year of university with no job, no money
and a boyfriend who would have scarpered
the minute he found out, I have no doubt
about that. If I am truly honest with
myself, I would have had to have
considered abortion very seriously. I
don't know if I would have gone through
with it but a part of me thinks I would
have...And that makes me feel very sad
i know that if I had had an abortion then
it would weigh on my mind for the rest of
my life because of my beliefs that I would
have killed a human being.
The point I am trying to make is that I
have been thinking very carefully about
this subject and I think it's sometimes
too easy to judge the women who have
abortions and thnk less of them. It's
easy to be judgemental when you have not
been in their position.
I still don't like abortion but I am
trying to better understand the women who
do it.

I kind of agree with diamondsz and I think
that you are being more understanding
about others stuations aand their is
nothing wrong with that, I too do not
believe that any child should not be brout
up around those types of situations, what
would have happened if he would have taken
it out on on an innocent child and believe
me, it happens.

I am going to go out on a limb here...
I was sexuall molested for years by a
family member, I was forever chnaged and
scarred because of it.
I still hurt today for certain reasons,
which you can read about on the aboriton
support forum. I answered a question by a
poster, that is why it is there.
Being aborted would have hurt me far less
than the sexual abuse I endured as a 5
year old little girl.

Thank you diamondsz and .Cairifairy,
whether it be abuse or sexually molested
it is all wrong, it should not be
happening and yet it still does and
continues to do so, unfortunately!

first of all, what right have you got to
say we do not do things for the ones who
do get abused, oh thats it you people
think you are the only ones who do things
[ though I would lke to see how many of
you actually help kids ], you irritate me
with your attitude towards pro lifers, you
are so arrogant, like your beliefs are the
only one anyone can have.I had started to
believe the rubbish pro choice spout but
luckily I spoke to sane pro lifers and
realized that I was compromising my
beliefs something pro choice would never
ever do.Untill I came back on here and
read the abuse of pro life I was half way
there but I cannot be as judgemental as
you lot, I could not be as hypocritical
has pro choice are.I have finnaly realized
that pro choice is just me, me, me all you
lot care about is yourselves.I am glad I
came back one last time to see the
hypocrisy and arrogance of the so called
pro choicers on here.

I was sexually abused as a child too but I
don't feel that I would rather have been
aborted. I think that child abuse is a
separate issue to abortion; it's easy to
use hindsight and say, for example, that a
woman should not have had her child
because it ended up being abused. Child
abuse is the fault of adults and the child
should never be blamed; if it was not that
particular child then it will usually be
another.

That's strange and I was not even talking
about abortion, see how people like to add
things and twist things and I realize this
is the abortion debate but I was not
talking about abortion at that moment.
Abortion is not abuse, abortion at times
is necessary. Abortion can also be
choice.
