well, jennifer michelle came into the
world on 19th november at 4.25pm, weighing
in at 5lbs 1oz.
I went to be induced last friday, but they
didn't give me the first dose of the gel
until saturday afternoon. My contractions
started pretty soon after that, but by the
evening I was only 1cm dilated and they
weren't getting much stronger. Early
sunday morning they gave me the second
dose of the gel and things got going
straight away.. My contractions were
really strong and I was finding it hard to
cope with the pain, and to make it worse I
had to stay strapped to the ctg monitor so
I was confined to my bed.
At 12.50pm I was examined and I was 3cm
dilated (at last!) so they decided to
break my waters. They did that at about
3pm, and straight away my contractions
became stronger. I'd been using gas and
air up until that point, but it was losing
its effectiveness so I asked for
pethidine. Apparently soon after that I
turned to my sister and said "i love
pethidine.. It's great" in a slurred
drunken voice. (i don't remember that
bit..)
well at about 4.15 I felt lots of pressure
down below and the midwife made me lie on
my side to be examined.. But that hurt so
much I rolled back over and then she
realised I was ready to push. It only
took 5 or 6 contractions to push her out,
but because it happened so fast I tore
very badly. I suffered a third degree
tear, and as soon as she was born I had to
be taken to theatre. I was in there 2
hours being stitched up.
Jenny is absolutely beautiful, she's so
tiny. She has an extra thumb on her right
hand.. Which came as a bit of a shock..
I was holding her little hand and realised
there was 6 fingers gripping onto mine!
She'll have to have it removed when she's
a bit older.. But for now it just makes
her more special.
So here are lots of pics!
sorry I haven't posted sooner, i'm having
problems with this forum.. It won't load
properly.. I hope this works ok!
