No matter how much sleep I do or don't
get, i'm always tired and I have no
energy. Also I always get moody for no
reason. Is this some form of depression?

Could Be... Posted: 02-01-04 22:25pm
Hi,
you should see a medical professional. I
have been diagnosed with major depression
and the symptons you mentioned are some
that I experience.
Good luck.

Thank You. Posted: 02-02-04 01:07am
Thank you for replying to my post. I was
told by my soon to be mother inlaw that I
might have bipolar, but I don't think it's
that. She said that she would call to
make an apointment, but hasn't done so
yet. I also told my mom, but she hasn't
done anything yet either. My soon to be
mother inlaw said that she would pay for
it, (i'm only seventeen, still in school,
and I don't have a job) but I live with
her so she basicly pays for everything
anyway. I don't want her to have to spend
her money on my apointment, but my parents
can't afford it. Sometimes I can deal
with it on my own, but other times I get
so depsessed. I do want help, but noone
can really aford it. See the thing is, my
dad has been on disability for a really
long time, my mom works at mcdonalds, and
my soon to be mother inlaw just lost her
husband in november when he hit a deer on
his motor-cycle, so she has had alot of
other expences and the job she has ony
pays about minimum wage for not alot of
hours a week. Thats why noone can afford
it. Today happened to be one of the days
that I had a problem. I started to hate
myself really bad, thinking about how much
i've messed up my life. Do you know of
any ways that I can get free or near free
help anywhere? If you do that would be a
great help. Even if you know of someways
to help my self with out seeing anyone
that would be apriciated. Thank you.

I'd Like to Help More... Posted: 02-03-04 07:58am
Hello again,
i live in canada and I am assuming that
you live in the us; therefore, I don't
know what type of services you have
available. One thing i'm sure is
everywhere is a 24-hour crisis help line.
Look in phone book, call a clinic or
maybe even a hospital to find the phone
number of a crisis line. I am told that
where ever these crisis lines are, they
are very helpful.
Please let me know how you make out, okay?

Thank You Again. Posted: 02-03-04 19:29pm
Thanks for all of the advice you have
given me. Yes I do live in the u.S. I
don't think that I will need the hot lines
right now, it's just that I wish there
were somewhere I could got to see a
counselor and/or get some medication. My
parents don't have any insurance or
anything like that. I think I will just
tell my mom that I really need to go and
i'm sure if she calls around and askes
about not being able to afford it, someone
can do something. And yes I will keep you
informed about how things go. Thank you.

Good For You!! Posted: 02-03-04 20:59pm
I'm sure there is somewhere for you to go
to get help. Try the major/bigger
facilities who should be able to direct
you.
Good luck, good health and keep in touch.

You may be anemic....(low on iron) that
causes those symptoms. A simple finger
prick and 5 min wait will give you test
results at a doc. Office.

Depression is a very overly diagnosed
problem. Many doctors just say, you're
depressed. It's often confused with being
sad. I, myself, do not sleep at night.
It's just how I am. It's not unusual,
it's just me! My doctor thought I was
depressed. But scientist say it "may be"
a chemical imbalance... They're not sure.
It's thought up in my opinion. It can be
overcome. My faith in god proves that
depression isn't real. It's the devil's
way of saying... "boohoo feel sorry for
me". I'm sorry for those who don't agree.
This is just my opinion. But being sad
is real, and you should always have
someone there to talk to and god is a big
help! Medicines can mess with people even
more. My sister was put on medication,
took it, and changed for the worse. She
realized how she had changed and stopped.
She regrets ever taking it! It can change
you. Be careful and good luck!

Thank You to Everyone That Gave Me Advice. Posted: 02-07-04 10:33am
I just wanted to say thank you all for
telling me your thoughts. After I get
checked out I will let you all know how it
went. I really don't think i'm amemic. I
just gave blood a few months ago, and if
someone has low iron then they can't give
blood, so I don't think it's that. I also
just found out that some sort of
depression runs in the family, i'm not
talking about this person here, that
person there. My sister just told me that
she is on medication, both of my parents
are on medication, and so is my brother.
Why no one ever told me? I have no clue.
Maybe they didn't think that it was
important. Anyway. I agree with the
medication being bad for people. I even
heard that almost all of them can be
harmful for people under 18. Can you
believe that? I think it's all of them
but, umm, one of the ones that start with
a p. By the way, I truly do think that
talking about things can make them better,
or at least make people feel better. So
if anyone would like to listen to what I
have to say about my life, or even if you
would like me to lend an ear and listen to
you that would be fine with me. I check
my e-mail a few times a day so i'd be sure
to write you back in a jiffy. Once again
thank you all for all of your help. Oh
yeah, my e-mail is crazy
dazy769@yahoo.Com, also I have yahoo
im which my screen name for that is also
crazydazy769, and I have an aol screen
name which is crazydazy7693. So if any
one needs help or any thing, or even if
you are just bored, then feel free to send
me a message.

Good advice from everyone. I am
suffering from depression, but at the
moment very anemic. This makes it hard
to determine if I am feeling the way I am
due to my depression or anemia.

the Bottom Line... Posted: 02-07-04 23:06pm
Hi,
the bottom line here is, seek a
professional medical opinion. Your life
and well being is worth the cost.
One more thing to think about, I also have
an hypo-active thyroid (under active
thyroid) which also has some of these
symptoms. Have you noticed a weight
gain?
Go see a doctor. Let us know.
Take good care,
renée

Gosh I wish there was someone I could talk
to right about now. I am so stresses and
i'm crying, and no I don't want to call a
crisis hotline. My fiance and I just had
a fight and it was all my fault. I was
doing good all day till now and I just got
so angry over nothing. Now he is mad at
me. He went to bed and i'm basicly stuck
sleeping on the couch. Gosh it's all my
fault. If anyone is on right now and can
talk to me as soon as you read this will u
send me an im on yahoo (crazydazy769), on
aol (crazydazy7693), or send me an e-mail
(crazydazy769@yahoo.Com). Please I really
need someone to talk to.

Things You Can Do to Help Depression Posted: 05-16-04 10:52am
I'm currently seeing a psychologist for
depression, plus being on prozac, and
doing biofeedback twice a week. Some
things I was told that you can do yourself
to help with depression are:
exercise (of course, they always use that
one)
drink lots of water
get enough protein in your diet (lack of
protein affects the brain, thus leading to
depression)
eat healthy food
stress reduction techniques such as
meditation
lastly, do the things that non-depressed
people do, like don't isolate yourself
from friends and family. My psychologist
said that just the act of doing the things
you would do when not depressed will help
you get out of depression. It's sound
weird, but it seems to be helping me a
little.
Good luck and god bless!

Hey, my name is lisa, I am 16, and on
antidepressents/anti anxiety medication.
Im on luvoiux, it is working good, and it
hasnt made me change for the worst at all,
it levels out my moods so I can stop being
depresed, and start focusing on my life,
it is working well, the only side effect
was that for the first 10 days I had dry
mouth, that was it.
You should talk to your doctor about this.
O by the way, the major help line is kids
help 1-800-668-6868, but I would never
call it unless I was ready to kill
myself.
I wouldnt call it because it is not very
personal, and the people who work there
talk to so many people a day, they woulndt
be able to give that good of advice
because they dont see you every day, know
your situation or anything like that, in
my advice, you should talk to friends and
people you know and trust untill you get
the chance to see a therapist or concler.
Another good place, is look at your school
you may have a concler that can help. I
live in ontario, in a small town, our
school has doesnt have very many people in
it, 500 max, so maybe its different for
your school, but I would concider checking
into that
