I had a similar question! I think that to make sure you do have a yeast infection you are supposed to go to the doctor, incase it happens to be something else.
I was wondering if anyone knew if it was ok to have sex during a yeast infection? I am going to the dr tomorrow and I think I have the start of one (but I have never had one before) and we are ttc, and o is in the next few days.... So we would need to bd tonight. Any responses would be great!!

Well there are vagistat .. Its a over the counter but it is only temporarily relief for the itching and the discharge, other than that you need to see a doctor because it can be

vaginal infection(vaginotitis)
trich(sti)
uti

any sort

um to the other females question.. I think it best to be clean during sex and most doctor are recommended to wear condom.. But call your doctor anyway and ask what his opinion on sex.. And youre ttc.

Sweetdreamer:
do u know if trich is a very serious infection?
I was diagnosed with it today and I was so upset that I didn't bother asking my doctor.

Thanks, ciara

you can have sex while you have a yeast infection, however you cannot have sex if you are treating one. The reason why many people say to not have sex when you have a yeast infection is because you can give it to your partner.......But chances are you have already given it to him.

When you go to your doctor make sure and also get some cream to treat your partner as well, because if he is untreated he will end up giving it right back to you.

You can get stuff like monistat at the pharmacy without a prescription. And actually the reason you shouldn't have sex while treating a yeast infection if because the treatment causes birth control pills to be ineffective, and can heat condoms which cause them to burst.

its ok, I was diagnosed with it a couple of weeks ago. Its not that serious, the doctor just gives you a couple of pills to make it go away. After you take them it should be gone within a week. Just be sure your partner gets the pills too so he doesnt give it to someone else.

Yeast is normally found in a healthy woman's vagina. It only causes problems when there's too much of it. Yeast infection will not cause complications if left untreated and it is not usually sexually transmitted. Very rarely will a man contract the infection and therefore require the treatment.

Otc medications for vaginal yeast infections: clotrimazole (mycelex-7), miconazole (monistat 7), tioconazole (vagistat), butoconazole (femstat 3).

As for trichomoniasis, it is an easily treated infection, however it is std. A single dose of metronidasole cures about 90% of cases.
