Video @ Birth
Posted: 11-28-06 14:58pm

Who here was allowed to take a video or photographs during the birth of there baby? I really want to have it on film, but because of liability, they will not let me film the birth. They said you can film everything except the actual birth of the baby. I was thinking about seeing if I can just video tape down my body from shoulder to legs, or if I can have the camera turned on.. Yet away from the birth and as soon as shes out have someone start shooting on the baby? Maybe I will get lucky and there will be enough going on that none of the docs or the nurses notice!

Ohhh I edited because I cant spell for beans

Shocked in other words they don't want you to have proof to be able to sue them if something goes wrong Question Shocked umm sorry but can anyone stop you from filming yourself?
Lots of people have their birth filmed.

I know its sick isnt it! I asked my doula and she said liability is the main reason why they wont let you. Just incase something happens to go wrong, you have all the evidence you need to sue. I wonder if there is a legal way to get around it? I would love to have it on camera =0(

thank you! Thats exactly what I was thinking. There is no flash on the damn video camera which should be of no distraction to the birth.

That seems soooo ridiculous, .Claud. I'd say screw them &film it anyway. It's your body, your baby, & your birth.

&.How dare they make that the main reason you can't tape it. Of course if they f*ck up you should sue! &.You should have the evidence! They seem like a bunch of fraudulent health forum to me.

That's what they told me too. They won't deliver your baby if you try to film the birth. I didn't want to film mine so I didn't care. Besides I had enough witnesses cuz both hubby and mum stayed.

Yeah, if someone said to me you can't do that because you would have evidence against us if we screw up - i'd be like umm right, guess i'm delivering elsewhere then.

They can't do that. Proof is permissible in a court of law -it's required.
Ask any judge and I expect they will say you are allowed to gether evidence. The only thing you can't do is film people who don't want to be filmed, without knowledge, so you would have to make it clear you were filming and be courteous about not having people's faces on camera if they don't want to.

I video taped my labor and birth. Well, my mom did at least...

When she was crowning, they made her move up to my chest and record downward.

You could see the bright light, the top of her head, her head coming out, then her shoulders, her belly, and toes, then she was placed on my belly.

They recorded afterwards too....

They said they couldn't do any "crotch shots" because someone could view it and sue for "uneccessary pain"...But I had a voluntary drug free labor and birth, so I think that's why they were so lax about it..

My video ran out of tape, so to see her actually being born you have to fast forward it to the end, then rewind it to see her being suctioned!!

Its craazy!!

But if anyone wants to see it, pm your email...I promise I don't mind yall seeing my experience!!
