Hi, people. I'm new at this forum about
hypoglicemia, though i'm not new at
ehealth at all.
Sometimes, I get very weak and very dizzy.
When I had my blood tested last
september, my sugar level on an empty
stomach was a little low.
I don't know wha tto do about this,
because it happens very frequently.
Generally, along with the dizzyness and
the weakness, I have headaches and I start
seeing foggy. I have already fainted and
everything..
Any suggestions? **

You need to alter your diet. How severe
are your symptoms currently? Can you
handle whole grains?

Yes I can. What do you suggest?
For example, this morning, at 9:00, I had
a kiwi and cereal bifidus yogurt and a
vikorn bread (a bread with seven cereals:
wheat, corn, oat, and four more that I
can't recall now...) with cheese and
turkey ham. Is this bad, good, or
neutral?
Generally I start feeling very dizzy and
have to sit down, there I feel chilly.
It's like i'm gonna pass out. And I also
feel nervous and tired.
But there's also another problem.. I'm
stuggling against bulimia... I drink a
lot of water (3 liters a day). Can it be
bad for me?
Well.. All these sympthoms happen
frequently and sometimes I lose my vision
for a few moments. Is this normal?

Sorry, I just realized that I was going to
respond to this days ago and for some
reason something happened and I forgot
about it. The yogurt is fine if it is
plain. Bread is pretty bad most of the
time, especially if it has corn in it.
Is it 100% whole grain? It has to say
100%. Cheese is best if organic, but
generally all cheese is fine if not
processed. If it just is made from milk
with maybe some herbs in it, then fine,
but if it says food starch or anything
like that, stay away from it. Turkey ham
has sugar in it. I drink about four
liters of water, so don't worry about
that. Bulimia will obviously be a
problem because you're not keeping down
the food to get sugar from it. I've
heard of people losing their vision, but
this may also be a sign of nutrient
deficiency from the bulimia. Are you
taking a vitamin?

generally, I have flavoured yogurt or with
pieces of fruit, because it's tastier..
How bad is that?

vikorn bread, as I could read about it on
the bag, is whole grain... It has rye,
corn, oat, wheat, sesame,sunflowers seeds,
and another cereal I whose name can't
translate. [/quote]

i love cheese, but I only eat cheese
that's made only with cow's milk (we call
it flamengo cheese here). It's not
processed; I don't buy processed cheese

no, i'm not. But i'm trying to have more
vitamins from fruits and milk. I have an
apple at day at least. It was a nice
advice that you gave me, saying they are
helpful, because I really feel the
difference!
but again, I found out that I may have ibs
- great! :s - but that's not confirmed
yet. I'm going to the doctor again
tomorrow and he'll probably prescribe me
some exams to see how my intestines are!
Thanks again!

Yogurt very, very bad. See if you can
find organic (if possible), plain sheep's
milk yogurt. Eat some of that and that
"ibs" will slowly disappear. Please keep
in mind bowel problems are closely linked
to hypoglycemia, so I suggest not going
that route until you've stabalized your
sugar and been on a good diet for
awhile. If you can't find that
yogurt, then get plain, cow's milk yogurt,
I repeat plain! No fruit! You
didn't say 100% whole grain, which means
it isn't. Don't eat it. Breads made
from sprouted grains are the best for you,
but depending on the severity of your case
you may need to avoid bread entirely for
awhile. You may want to look into a
good, vegan vitamin to help out with
likely problems with nutrients I bet you
have. If the doctor suggests taking this
and that pill I suggest you wait to see if
you can clear these things up with a
proper diet first, because some of those
medicines are pretty harmful to the body
and that's the last thing you need. By
the way, you may find your bulimic
impulses are closely linked to your sugar
levels. I wouldn't be surprised to hear
you say that you find yourself forgetting
about such things as the diet continues.

Ok, i'll try to bear that in mind. And
what about milk? I only drink cow's milk.
Generally plain or with a bit of
chocolate... :s this is kinda new for me,
so i'm sorry for being so annoying!

Don't worry about it! I must say, it
still sometimes amazing me how much some
people that come on here don't know. I
would think it obvious that eating
chocolate is not a good idea.
Milk. Hmmm, it depends on the person.
Generally, you should only be drinking
milk if you can get it raw, otherwise it's
kind of hard for your body to digest. In
addition, the major problem with milk is
that it's pretty much a simple sugar.
Look at the label, the entire carbohydrate
content is like totally sugar. When you
drink milk your glucose goes up pretty
quick, so I don't recommend it, but if you
seem okay on it go ahead. Soured forms
of milk are the best for everyone such as
yogurt, sour cream, cheese (especially raw
cheese), kefir and so forth. Anything
else can be kind of sketchy, but don't
forget i'm a little extreme with this, you
may feel just fine drinking milk. But
you shouldn't have it with chocolate, come
on!

Ok. i'm avoiding
chocolate and cakes, then.
i'm eating more fruits and veggies (though
i'm used to having them already), because
my doctor told me to have more of them
because of my intestines. Besides, he
told me not to eat bread - only whole
cereal bread -, cookies (the same) and to
have some all bran cereals if I wished to
have cereals.

These days, specially today, I felt a bit
weak in the morning.. I hadn't happened
in a while. Could it have been because of
the excesses of this season? I haven't
exagerated a lot, I guess, thought i've
put a few pound on (),
but there's sugar and 'bad things' in a
lot of things :s
have a happy new year you all

If you're eating sugar again expect
nothing more than to feel crappy.
Otherwise, your body is simply going
through an adjustment phase with your new
diet.

stan, lately i've been working on a
college project all the day and until late
at night (like 3 in the morning).
Yesterday night, from midnight on or close
to this I started feeling weak and dizzy.
When I went to sleep, I was cold and could
breathe very well. Furthermore, even laid
down, I still felt like I was going to
faint.
Could this be due to sugar levels?
I asked stan, because that's the quickest
person to answer these questions, but i'd
appreciate any answer!
Thanks everyone.

Yep, don't forget, being a westerner, you
probably tend to view the mind as separate
from the body. It's not and never forget
that. If you're staying up that late two
things are happening.
1. You are staying up way past your meal
limit. This isn't totally bad when
you're more stable but can be disastrous
when you're just starting. If you keep
eating you should be okay, but it's best
to avoid staying up past 12:30 at the
latest and getting up around 8. You want
at least 7 hours of sleep, 8 is best
though.
2. The most important thing is that
whatever you do mentally will and always
drains sugar. When you workout, sure,
you can see your body losing sugar that
way. But few people realize or even
believe when they first hear it that the
brain uses exhorbitant amounts of sugar
whatever it may be doing. If
you're reading, it uses a lot more than
just laying and watching tv, but it's
still using it, staying up that late used
up a ton, I bet my sugar balance on it!

yep, I generally have dinner around nine
o'clock. What can I do if I do have to
stay up working until this late? Is that
something better to eat or drink by that
time?
Thanks again

Well, obviously, if you can, try to get to
bed on time. If you absolutely,
positively have to stay up and can't get
around it, I would say keep eating
protein. Have an egg or two or some
nuts. If you're going to stay up beyond
an extra two hours, it may be best to have
another little meal like you did
throughout the day, minus any fruit.

Minus fruit? Ok, i'll give it at try...
It's so bad then when I get to go to
sleep, laying down and feeling strange,
weak, not breathing normally, dizzy,
nauseous.. :s

Hi, there. I just passed by to tell a few
things that i've found out...
Does anyone around live somewhere near a
lidl shop? These supermarkets can be
found in many countries around europe.
These supermarkets sell a lot of things
that I found out to be very nice in
"fighting" hypoglicemia, constipation and
ibs, and those products are very good both
in quality and price. I try to find our
things that work out for all these
problems at the same time, so it's easier
and better for me.
So, if you can go to these markets, here
are some products you can search for:
whole rye bread (it comes in slices, in a
bag - half a kilogram each bag, nine or
ten slices), brown rice (tastes so
good!!!), whole cereal pasta (specially
spaguetti; this pasta tastes a lot better
than the white one), whole cereal coloured
pasta, apple jam without sugar, etc.

Be careful with eating those things. Are
you talking about a health food store?
