Pooching At 7 Weeks - What?? Posted: 11-29-06 20:42pm
Please let me know if I have a reason to
trip!
I am around 7 weeks and I am definitely
pooching. I have to get my maternity
clothes out of storage (the bottom of....)
this weekend. Some of you mentioned that
I could be bloating. If this is merely
bloating, then I am a bloating
queen...It's pretty bad. I also feel a
fluttering sometimes, like I did when my
other child was around 22 weeks. I can't
be that far off of my due date - well
perhaps three weeks (horrible - horrible,
I know). I thought I was pregnant the
month before but the pregnancy tests
always showed up negative. There is no
way I am 22 weeks. Perhaps the fluttering
is psychological or "phantom"
perhaps I am just tripping. This is my
second pregnancy and the pregnancy is so
different. I am not sick, which freaks me
out because being sick is a good thing.
My emotions on the other hand are horrid.
My poor husband and child - my poor work
collegues. I cry at the drop of the hat
about anything, literally bawl! I have dx
myself "a freak!" yep, I am officially a
freak now!
Anyways, pooching this early is just plain
strange. I also can't wear tighter shirts
without people saying, "are you pregnant?"
it's great to have my boobs back - can't
complain! Boobs don't hurt, though.
Strange. What is with the pooching? How
can I look pregnant to everyone this
early?? Can one bloat that much?
Someone mentioned it is too early to
notice whether or not I have twins because
they are the size of a rice. So, what's
with the poochiness???

Have you had an ultrasound yet? You might
be further along than you thought,
negative tests and all. As far as
possible bloating, try to drink as much
water as you can! It'll flush your system
and might help bring the retention down.

So, if you don't drink enough water you
can get bloated? Dumb question, I know.
That would explain a lot. I actually had
to go to urgent care a few weeks ago,
where I found out I was dehydrated. I
still haven't learned. Shoot! I should
just walk around all day with a little
alarm reminding me to drink water. I am
one of those people who can carry around
the same bottle of water all day and
forget I am carrying it...Don't ask. A
little touch of adhd.

i hate when people say this. I was
*sooooo* sick during my first pregnancy up
until about 12 weeks. At 13 weeks I found
out the baby had been dead for 5 weeks.
I was mildly sick this time around and now
I have my beautiful boy.
Every pregnancy is different. Don't
compare them to previous pregnancies of
your own or your friends.

i was so sick too, and the doctors at the
hospital told me it was a sign that the
baby and pregnancy were doing alright, and
doing it's job.
"as unpleasant as it is, some researchers
believe that the nausea and vomiting of
"morning sickness" experienced by
two-thirds of pregnant women is mother
nature's way of protecting mothers and
babies from food-borne illness, and also
shielding the baby from chemicals that can
deform fetal organs at the most critical
time in development."
so just because your baby died, and you
were sooooo sick doesn't mean you should
scare the poor girl and put ideas in her
head. (even if you didn't mean too)

i totally didn't mean to. She said she
was nervous because she *wasn't* sick and
i'm just saying how sick you are has
nothing to do with anything.

Thanks guys. As for people who state that
they were so sick, they are just stating
how they feel. Yes, I am comparing
pregnancies which is not really a good
thing. It's so easy to do.
I do believe being sick is a good sign
(most of the time). It's easy to believe
something when you read it everywhere and
hear it from a lot of professionals. That
is why people like me say this. I can
understand why you get frustrated. I
would if I had your experience. People
don't know your experience when they say
this as they are just going off of what
they hear. What you have said could help
people like me feel better because I am
not that sick this time around. I really
appreciate your words. It just helped my
anxiety level believe it or not. Maybe I
have nothing to worry about. I couldn't
imagine going through what you went
through. I am so glad you have a
beautiful boy. Congrats.
I do feel something is not right and
perhaps it's because my boobs don't hurt,
I am not sick...Etc. Well, I have a belly
pooch..Maybe that's a good sign.
Thanks all for your encouragement
everyone. Boston, I understand what you
were saying and it did help. Thanks

it could mean something and then it
couldn't, none of us know your body or
whats going on with it so the only real
way to know is to go to a doctor and get
checked out. I know with my first and
second pregnancy I didn't start getting
sore boobies until I was around 8 weeks,
and I started getting sick around 10 weeks
or so. I know a few girls who had a
wonderful pregnancy with no sickness and
no pregnancy problems and their babies
came out perfectly healthy.
Like I said, go to a doctor because none
of us can really give you the answers your
looking for.

Your bloat is most likely gas. Which is
why you are feeling that fluttery feeling.
Another thing people forget is how well we
(especially us ladies!) hold our stomachs
in. When we are pregnant, we seem to stop
- this can give the illusion of more of a
belly than we formerly had.
If it turns out, when you go to your
doctor's appointment, that you are 7-8
weeks pregnant, don't be disappointed.
Every experience is different and unique -
just as every pregnancy is different.

Morning sickness is typically caused by
your body having to produce hormones to
sustain the pregnancy, this typically
eases off at 12 weeks because that is when
the placenta is fully developed and it
takes over the production of hormones
instead of your body.
The placenta is a proper organ with
certain functions - not just a bit of
flesh that connects the baby to the
uterus.
Once the placenta is producing hormones
you usually feel a lot better.
Plenty of women have healthy pregnancies
with and without sickness and vice versa -
you are an individual.
