Buuut, I am alll for pain m eds when it comes to things like surgery, cavaties being filled, etc.

But when it comes to something my body was designed to do, I refuse them..

Any pain can be considered as 'natural' as it is your bodies way of telling you something is wrong.

A headache, toothache etc is 'natural' but people take tablets for it cause there is noneed to put up with pain

because some people don't want to be pumped full of toxins.

This wasn't the kind of comment i'd expect from you either.
(oh yes, it might say guest - I can still see who you are.)

And you're totally right.
As I said, i'd accept pain meds for certain things, but not birth.

It's cool though. Having a **vaginal birth** is just as great an accomplishment!!!!!

Claudia, know that I am proud of you for laboring at home and putting forth your best effort to go through with it!!!!! :p

and plenty of people choose not to take pain meds for headaches either.

It says guest cause I forgot to sign in. I'm not ashamed. It's just how I feel.

I have respect for people who go au naturel- (i went au naturel with my 3rd) but sometimes I feel like .Sarah preaches about going natural like she's better than everyone.

Sorry if i'm wrong about that .Sarah it's just how it comes across to me. I don't wanna start trouble Confused

*just to add*

i did go 20 hours natural with my daughter and 95% of my labour with .Logan was natural too. It's just one time when .Sarah was going on about natural labour it made me feel slightly ashamed like I was a failure cause I chose an epidural and ii didn't want claudia to feel like that too so I was just defending her!

It just looked like you had signed out to put people down for not using pain meds.

I hate using any meds - I even told the ambulance crew i'd rather suffer than use gas and air, and morphine does nothing for me so there's no point using it.

***edit to add***

no-one is a failure for using pain meds if they need them.
But taking pain meds "just because they are there" is't really the answer.

I'm not "preaching"! I'm "encouraging". Huuuge difference!!

I've said it in *many many* posts that I don't feel I need any applause, or praise for going drug free. (i'm waaaay to lazy to look up the posts....)

but, if I were to be "gloating" about it, so what?? Should I be ashamed of giving birth (my first time) drug free? No.

I could be a lot worse!!! Honestly, I could. But i'm not. I give congratulations to anyone and everyone for even making it through the birth.

Don't get it twisted.

Ah c'mon kia. You should know me better than that. I'm not gonna hide behind anonymity.

Like I said. I was just sticking up for .Claudia cause I doubt the last thing she'd wanna think about right now is 'what happened to the drug free approach?' it just seemed like she was critising her.

Again apologises if it came across wrong.

I think it's gonna be one of those days Embarassed

p.S kia is this our first domestic of married life? Wink

I really don't want to turn this into an argument. I agree with sarah that everyone is a hero for giving with or without painkillers.

Kia I agree with you about pain relief. It sucks! Right now i'm sat here with a burning hot water bottle on my back cause my kidneys are playing up and the codeine is like smarties Rolling Eyes

was in hospital over weekend and have been ill that's why I haven't been on much

Hey, when the pains kicked in I begged for meds. I'm so not ashamed of it. The darn things wore off anyway so I had to go through the last bit with all feeling restored. But at least I have some happy memories of the birth thanks to the epi! Epi's rock!

I'm more scared of the meds than the pain Twisted Evil

gas and air is foul foul foul stuff and ugh just no ugh I can taste it just thinking about it.
Morphine is crap and does nothing for the pain but does make me puke - baaaaad (green projectile vommiting). The anti-emtics they give with morphine to stop you being sick - make me sicker Rolling Eyes

so yeah i'd rather suffer to be honest.

beck, read the last paragraph in my post.....

I don't want people to feel like i'm preaching. And if that's how I come across to you, i'm sorry.

Vaginal birth in itself is a *huge* accomplishment. I don't know how many times I have to say this. Rolling Eyes

come on, the fact that I asked her what made her change her mind about going drug free, is because I know how determined she was to labor with out.

That's it. I wasn't trying to coax her and say "i'm better than you because I went drug free". Those words never came out of my mouth (or finger tips Wink )

i, never, thought this would end up being a discussion between me and you beck. Maybe me and .Claudia, but not you...

It's cool though.. I don't have any regrets about what I have said....Ever.

I still wub you!!!
