So Sad...
Posted: 12-04-06 12:41pm

I don't know why i'm posting this.

Our christmas parade was saturday night (we didn't go) and a 9-year-old boy was killed when he was run over by a parade float. He was in the parade with his boy scout troop and they don't know yet if he fell off the float or was walking next to it.

They keep showing clips from the story in promos for the news and it's really upsetting me. Can you imagine? It was supposed to be such a happy occasion and it turned into such a tragic event. I just keep thinking of his poor parents.

Sorry for posting such a sad story. It just breaks my heart.

Oh my .God, that poor boy. That's terrible!

This is one reason I don't watch the news anymore. I was breastfeeding .Alyvia when that newborn with the birthmark on her face was kidnapped, and I burst into tears and was an emotional wreck.

Aw, that poor little boys family. Too bad such things happen so close to the holidays (or ever, but especially around holidays)

I think the reason i'm so bothered by it is that nobody saw it coming. You do all you can to protect your children and then something as innocent as a parade can turn deadly.

It scares me.

That's a very scary thought.
Not that it's at all a comparison, but this past 4th of .July parade in my parents town turned upside down. One of the horses in the parade had an anurism (sp?) or something, and he reared and the rider fell of, and was stepped on by the horse, she ended up being fine tho she did get a broken leg...The horse had to be put down, right on the spot in front of all the spectators. There was a vet that happened to be at the parade watching, and said it had to be put down. I believe an officer shot it. But yes, a simple parade can turn tragic.

They shot the horse in front of the crowd?

I feel badly for the horse, poor thing, but weren't there children in the crowd?

These are the kinds of things I wish I could shelter .Aly from. How do you explain tragedy to a child? Sad

What!?!?!?!?!! An officer shot a horse?????

I would sue. If my child ever sees anything like that, she'll be scarred forever. Hell, i'd be scarred forever!!!

About 5 years ago, on .Mardi .Gras. A mother with her 2 babies(in a stroller) were sitting on a corner of a busy highway. An 18 wheeler, turned the corner and hit them. The 2 babies died and the mother was in critical condition. It was a horrid sight and I would never ever want to experience that again.

The 18 wheeler had the balls to say she shouldn've have been on the corner. It was medical answer .Mardi .Gras!!!!

Last year, in .February, it was .Mardi .Gras and my friend .Nicole was 2 weeks from her due date. Her and her sis were walking the parade route when a woman in a car hit .Nicole's sister and drug her 20 feet.

Here, we never let pregnant women walk near the street. Ever. Thank .God for this or my man .Jathan might not be here...

If that's one thing I hate is the unknown. You never know if, or when, something bad is gonna happen... Sad it makes me bookoo nervous!

yes, they had to for the safety of the crowd, he was thrashing about, and hit his head on the curb (where most of the kids sit) and there was no way he ever would have survived. So in that aspect, .I understand that the decision they made was probably the safest they could have, instead of one of the bystanders being kicked or jolted from the horse. This was probably 4 or 5 blocks past where we were sitting, and it was the end of the parade, so we didn't hear/see anything until that night when it was on the news.
*edited for spelling. I put crown instead of crowd, duh!

That is really sad. I was watching this thing about a lady who was going to trail for killing her baby... The three week old baby was killed by being put in a microwave. It was so sad and disgusting, I really though I was going to puke. It was sad to the point where I wished I hadn't heard it at all.

i .S.A.W .T.H.A.T!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know exactly the feeling you had when you heard about. It was the most emptiest, nausious, feeling in my gut. As soon as I heard, I grabbed .Nana up and just hugged her.

How could someone do that to something soo precious!!

I cried like a 4 year old when I saw that episode of .House, when the baba almost drowned, and then the momma killed him. Crying
or Very sad

speaking of .House, has anyone seen the previews for the next show?! I hope he doesn't die!!

oh.. That's too disgusting for words.. I can't imagine anyone doing something like that to such a tiny, innocent little thing. When I look at my baba I can't bear the thought of anything bad happening to her.. I even feel bad when she cries coz I change her nappy!

what state/country was that trial in?

We have .House on dvd, and I saw that episode when .Aly was only a few weeks old. I cried sooo hard, cuddled her and told her over and over how her mommy would never hurt her.

yeah. Just a feeling of complete disgust, and a dropping feeling. It's sad because I forget all the time that there are bad people, then I hear something like that and realize again that the world is a disgusting place. Do you think the mom did it or the boyfriend?
