Hydascan Help??? Gall Bladder Issue Posted: 12-04-06 15:00pm
I have been sick since june. They have
found a severe hiatle hernia and severe
reflux. I took many meds, some made me
sicker for a while then they realized I
was alergic to them and took me off. Got
meds settled and I was fine for about a
month and a half. I lost 30lbs the first
month of the illness. Then one night I
had a high fat dinner and 3 hours later I
was writhing in pain on the floor for
three hours. I have had three more
attacks. I had a sonogram in the
beginning and they said my gall bladder
was fine. I have since changed dr's and
he says it sounds like classic gall
bladder. The on set is 3 hours after
certain foods, extreem pain in my upper
right rib cage, back and shoulder,
shortness of breath and mass vomiting and
nausea coupled with gas and bloating.
I went in for a hyda scan today and was
fine durring the test. Toward the end I
had a little discomfort but nothing
compared to what I have had in the past.
2 hours after comming home I had another
attack. Not as severe as the other ones
but bad, pain upper right side, back,
nausea etc.
My question is I see a lot of people that
had pain durring the scan, have any of you
had pain that waited till 2 hours after
the scan like the three hours after I eat
is when the attacks occure? This just
sucks and I want to be better. I am 27
and tired of being in pain and sick all
the time. Any input would be helpfull.
If it helps the last major attack I had
eaten a salad with raw brocclie,
cauliflour, bacon, bacon grease, cheddar
cheese and mayo in it. Three hours later
the pain started. It began to let up so I
decided to eat something small so I could
take pain meds without it upsetting my
stomach. I ate half a peanut butter
sandwhich and had another full blown
attack a few hours later.

Hida Scan For Gallbladder Posted: 12-11-06 09:30am
Hi there,
i just wanted to post a reply. I got sick
in february 2005. I started having pain
in my right upper quadrant and generally
feeling "unwell". I lost 11 pounds over
the next few months, and would
occasionally wake up in severe pain. I
was referred to a gastro and had a gamit
of tests-- ultrasound, ct scan, endoscopy,
colonoscopy and finally a hida scan that
checked the contractility of my
gallbladder. I had no stones or sludge.
My gallbladder just wasn't working
properly. I had my gallbladder out in
sept 2005. Unfortunately my pain never
went away. I was told after the fact that
I have ibs, a "nervous" stomach (the
doctor said I have a high stress job-i'm a
firefighter-and that's making me sick.
Yeah right!) etc... I got another opinion
and am now beng checked for spinchter of
oddi dysfunction and just underwent a
camera endoscopy to rule out problems with
my small bowel. No results yet. I
encourage you to request a hida scan as
you know how you feel. If you don't get
the results you want then get a second
opinion. We all need to be responsible
for our health care. Good luck and I hope
you feel better soon.
