Is Birth Control An Ok Thing? Posted: 12-04-06 18:38pm
I have asked my mom numberous times if I
could get on birth control. And each time
it has always came out no no no. And
usually I respect her decision. But
recently my boyfriend and I have been
talking about having sex but not acutally
doing it. I dont really want to get
pregnant but my boyfriend somewhat does.
But as well as if we do become sexuall
active and I turn out not to really be
ready I dotn want to end up pregnant
anyway. Any ideas on how to apporach my
mom on this? I'm only 16!
Thanks for the advice in advance

You do not need your mom for birth
control, you can get it without her
consent, and for free possibly.
Planned parenthood usually offers teens
low cost and free services, so does your
local county 'health department'.
Parents will often not want to think about
their daughters having sex, but it is
going to happen.
Your b/f may want baby, but prenatal care
and having a baby is upwards of
10-20,000$. I doubt at 16-18 he has that
kind of money.
You may need to just get on bc by
yourself.

Condoms break...
I had an abortion, but not everyone wants
to have one, so they need to be more
careful than you have been.
Pills are more effective than condoms.

Birth control pills are effective method,
I agree with carifairy. The pills provide
contraceptive protection, exceeding 99%,
when used properly.
Condoms are good option. In case of a
condom break you still have an opportunity
to prevent pregnancy with emergency
contraceptive pills (like plan b).
