Can Anyone Help ? Slurred Speech, Fluttering Eye Lids Stuff
Posted: 12-06-06 16:37pm

Hi,

can anyone help diagnose or recognise what might be wrong with me !

For about three week I have had numerous episodes where my eye lids start to close and flutter, my legs become weak, my speech becomes slurred and my vision can become strange, sometimes resulting in collapse but I can always hear.

I have been to the doctors and they have ruled out epilepsya and other brain disorders and I have had an mri scan, nothing picked up. Also I have had blood tests , ecgs etc the docs can't find anything wrong and say there isnt much more they can do.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar? Any ideas would be most appreciated.

Is there any specific time of day when it seems to be more common? Do the symptoms occur more commonly when you are tired? Certain types of myoclonus, which are considered epileptic episodes, can cause spasms like you're describing. They can also be indiators of other neurological disorders like parkinson's disease and mulitple sclerosis. It could also be a kind of myasthenia. It's hard to say more without knowing a lot more details of your symptoms.

Hope that at least helps a little bit! Smile

i've heard of people googling symptoms. Have you tried that to see if you could come up with anything?

Your symptoms can be linked to many illnesses. I know you said that you had an mri, but you need more extensive testing. If it was ms(which I am not saying)it can take years for doctors to diagnosis it correctly. Keep asking the doctors until you get an answer.Good luck. Wink
