2 Faints And 2 Negatives? Please Help.... Posted: 12-08-06 19:20pm
Hi ladies..Well, I guess you could say i'm
still kinda new here. I originally logged
on to find other ladies who have suffered
a loss as I have in august. I was 18wks
and my daughter was too tiny to
survive..Anyways...I have been on birth
control pills since then, and recently
changed to the depo shot about 3wks
ago..The dr did take a urine test before
administering the shot and it was a
bfn...However, within the last 2wks, I
have been experiencing extreme
fatigueness, low back ache, twinges and
cramps in lower abdomen, and urinating a
lot! So I thought i'd try a hpt since
there are some women who still get preggo
on the shot..Like my sister-in-law...So I
bought the kmart brand american fare and
there were 2. The first one was very very
faint to where my eyes had to work very
hard...The next day I took another one to
see...It was a faint positive again, but
darker than the last..It showed up within
10mins though. To make sure, I thought
maybe I should try a brand name, so I went
out and bought first response 2days later
(today) and retested...I got a bfn...I
also had my fiance' grab me a test from
his clinic and that also came out
negative...Though his one is used if there
is a missed period...The ones i've used
are the ones that detect early..Now i'm
wondering...Should I still call my dr to
hopefully schedule a beta hcg? I just
don't want to wasted my time going down
there so they can run another urine test
on me then tell me they're not going to do
a beta hcg test. Any advice? Were the
faint positives right or were the negative
ones right? Any words of experience would
help a lot...Thank you!!!!!

Sorry ladies.. It's very frustrating for
me because I didn't have a period since I
gave birth to my daughter and I really
don't know when i'm supposted to test or
where i'm at as far as weeks and
days...Sorry I missed that part...

Chances are you're pregnant. The test
you got from kmart is probably sensitive
to the hcg hormone, meaning its probably
dectect a smaller amout present in your
urine.....The other test may not be as
sensitive and may not show a positive
until there is more hcg in you system.
But to be sure, I think you should wait a
few more days to a week and take the test
again with fmu.

wondering....Thanks.

Fmu = first morning urine
save some money and wait five more days,
I know its a health forum to wait but I
think you will get more conclusive results
if you wait a while.

Hey foxy. Thanks again...You know, after
I asked you what fmu was, it then dawned
on me what it did stand for...Something's
wrong with me...Lol...Anyways...I
scheduled a doc appt for tomorrow to see
what's going on...I tested again this
morning with onestep.....It was a bfn! I
don't know what to think. The whole day
yesterday, my back was killing me and I
kept getting twinges and sharp pains in my
abdomen, especially towards the pelvic
area...I wasn't really hungry either...But
can't forget being really tired as hell
and yawning non-stop....I'll let you know
what happens tomorrow...Thanks.

If i'm not, then I hope they find out
what's causing this pain? I'll update
later...Thanks for asking..

Hi terpamber...Well, the dr appt kinda
disappointed me yesterday. I mean, what
are the chances of back pain, sharp
abdominal pain shooting across, urinating
frequently, dizziness/lightheadedness,
extreme fatigue all occuring with
different reasons for each symptom? They
said, my back pain could be from muscle
spasms...Abdominal pain from
constipation...Fatigue from the depo or
possible low iron..Frequent
urination/dizziness from a possible uti?
All of these things happening at one time?
I felt like the dr was in a rush and just
threw random answers to my questions and
must've thought I was a looney for
thinking I could've gotten pregnant on the
shot! He didn't even exam me...Just took
another dang urine test and said, "as of
today you are negative"....But we'll just
do a blood test to confirm that....Then
said it could take a day or two...If it's
positive then they'll call...If not, I
won't hear from them...What kinda stuff is
that? So leave me in the dark..What if
it's positive and someone forgets to call
and here I am continuing on as if i'm not
pregnant! After I left, I didn't feel
right. I didn't believe that all those
things were the cause of each symptom I
was having....I know my body better than
anyone else and I don't often feel like
that....I felt for the first time that
something's not right...Hopefully i'll get
an answer one way or another...I'm still
frustrated. I thought going to visit the
dr would ease my mind....Nope...Just made
it kinda worse...Really....How can you
have stomach cramps and pains like this
for about 2 to 3wks thanks to
constipation? I've had constipation and
if I get cramps, they don't last this long
and they don't feel like this either!
Anyways...As soon as I know...I'll update.
Thanks.

I feel for you girl. I find that the
doctor can be more frustrating and you can
come out even more confused than when you
went in.
I hope you get some answers from your
blood test, either way, so you know and
can carry on. It does seem strange that
(like you said) you would have all these
things going wrong at the exact same
time.
Did you have your depo shot on time? My
sister-in-law missed getting hers last
year by a few days (a week even maybe at
the most), so they had to take a urine
test first to make sure she wasn't
pregnant before administering the shot (it
was a bfn), and then a few weeks before
she was due for her next shot, she started
experiencing some symptoms like you have
and she took a test and well, she was
pregnant!
If you don't hear anything back from your
blood test, I would either try testing
again in a week or so, or go to another
doctor if the pains don't go away.
Good luck.....Keep us posted!

Hey jaemierin...Well...I feel like after I
posted on here, my body was felt worse.
Now i'm feeling a little sick to the
stomach. Haven't heard anything from the
blood test yet. Maybe they didn't get the
results yet. My back is killing me more,
my boobs are starting to hurt a little
more, my hips, my stomach...Goodness
gracious....I'm going crazy. I really
don't know if I even want to test again if
I don't hear anything from the blood
tests...As for the shot, well...I'm not
sure they gave it to me ontime...It was my
first and I just changed over from the
pills. However, since I miscarried in
august, I haven't had a period yet...And I
read on the depo provera website that it
must be given during the first 5 days of
period so i'll know that i'm not pregnant
definitely. They did do a test before
giving it to me and it was a bfn...But
like the doc said, it still could be
early? Then I back tracked and thought to
myself, if u wanted to to be totally sure,
then why not give me a blood test?
Anyways.....I'm going to call tomorrow
regarding the test results..I'll keep you
posted. Thanks for the concern.

Good luck jenn.....Maybe it's just a weird
way of your body working out all the kinks
with the switch from the pill to the depo
shot?! Who knows....Our bodies can play
such weird tricks on us at times hey?
Keep us posted and I hope that you start
to feel better soon

Okay. They called me back finally. I'm
kinda disappointed, but it's not the end
of the world...I'm sort of relieved in a
way. The beta hcg came back negative, and
also the rest of my bloodwork came back
normal as well..I'm wondering what the
hell is causing my pain now...Oh well.
Just wanted to update. Thanks ladies for
trying to help. Now I know...

Hey !!!
Last month I had a positive result then I
re tested twice and I had a negative, I
telephoned my doctor who said home
pregnancy tests dont always work on
certain people.
I had to get a blood test, which turned
out to be negative. She said pregnancy
tests arent always right and she always
advises people to have a blood test if
they are getting mixed results from
pregnancy tests.
I hope you are, fingers crossed :d

Hey lainey, thanks for the
input...However, it was negative. But I
finally know now what the hell is going on
with me...I have strep throat..I've never
had it before that's why I thought
something's wrong with me and I felt that
my dr was wrong about muscle
spasms....Well, goes to show I know my
body more than anyone else...
As far as hpts go, yeah...I don't think
i'll rely on them entirely anymore..But
i'll take 'em as a first step before
asking for a blood test.
