Nathan Is Sick, Yet Again Posted: 12-08-06 20:29pm
I don't know what is going on with my boy,
but he is sick again.. This time with a
terrible cold. His little nose is
running like I fountain, and every time he
coughs he cries in pain. I have tried
giving with childrens' cold and flu syrup,
but you basically have to force it down
his throat, and it just make both of us
more upset.
Should I be running back to the e.R. For
like the 6 time this month, or let nature
run it's course?
Am I an over protective mother??? This
is so frustrating, I could cry myself.

Hmmmm...Unless he has a fever, i'd wait a
little. The er can be sooo expensive.
Maybe schedule an appointment with the doc
as soon as you can. You can even call
the pharmacy and see what they'd suggest.
I don't have a baby though, so definetly
go with what the other girls say.
Maybe you could put some warm chicken
broth in a bottle and see if he'll drink
it. Doesn't have any alcohol or caffeine
in it, and they say that the salt in the
broth can help kill a cold. Or, some
decaf tea with honey in it, hmmmm...I'm
trying to think of some remedies that
won't taste yucky.

I live in canada, so I have free health
care. Nathans appetite is gone too, and
I think that is because his throat is soo
sore...

Well, how old is your little guy?
Definately don't give him honey. It's
got bacteria in it and it can be dangerous
to little ones under the age of 1. I
have infant tylenol cold on hand, tho
.I've never had to use it. The adult
tylenol cold worked well for me...So .I
would assume the infant kind should be
good also. Good luck, and if in doubt
don't hesitate to run to the .E.R, .Oni
has .R.S.V, and that .I believe has the
same symptoms as a cold. Keep us
updated.

if you read the thread '.Oni has' (or
something along those lines) you can learn
a bit more about it. Babymajic (.Oni's
mommy) may be able to help you out with
some of your questions

oh the poor sweetie. Yea it's hard to
eat when they don't feel good. Well, if
it's free, you might want to take him.
Has he been throwing up too? At least
they could give him something to get him
through the night, and then get to a
doctor soon. I don't know what to do in
a situation like that.

I personally would take him in again, but
.I'm way overprotective of my daughter, so
keep that in mind. Poor little guy!
have you tried calling his doc?

Yea, i'd take him just to be safe and
because he can't tell you everything
that's wrong too. poor kid. My
doctor's receptionists are like that too,
never answering the stupid phone. Grrrr.
I hope nathan gets better, will be
praying for him.

Then honestly, what I personally would do
is head to the .E.R. I mean, even if it
is the 6th or 7th time, better to be safe
than sorry when it comes to the little
ones, right? And I would definitely tell
that doctor about her receptionist doing a
crappy job answering the phone. That's
just uncalled for.

play around with. I hope your little guy

I think that bronchitis is a symptom of
r.S.V (correct me if i'm wrong), the fact
that he cries when he coughs leds me to
believe that he either has a sor throat or
he has bronchitis. A year or so ago I
had bronchitis and it is extremely
painful, I also cried out in pain
everytime I coughed, it feel like your
whole chest is raw and on fire, so I
cannot imagine how he is feeling.
You should really take him to the doctor
because even if it is not r.S.V...It is
definately not the common cough and cold
either.

Foxy, you're right. Bronchiolitis and/or
pneumonia are signs of .R.S.V. Or
actually can be caused by .R.S.V.
Fever is also associated with .R.S.V, so
if he's not running a fever, it more than
likely isn't .R.S.V.
Go to the .E.R....I wouldn't risk
anything.

I did end up going to the hospital
lastnight. And the doctor on really
knows his stuff, so I was happy with what
he told me, and didn't get the run
around.
Don't you hate when you go, and all they
say is.. Take him home and put him to
bed, he'll be fine in the morning.
He has a viral infection, and a slight
case of broncitis. They put him on a
aresol, and gave him steriods...We had a
hard night, but he doing better this
morning, and actually is having a good
sleep right now.

Oh man...I'm sorry yall are going through
this.
R.S.V is a *viral* infection...And they
prescribe steroids, albuterol, and
antibiotics.
I wouldn't doubt if that's what .Nathan
has. It's .Respitory .Cynctial
.Virus...You should read my info on my
other thread. I'm sure it could help.
Good .Luck and make sure .Nathan gets his
fluids and his rest!
Yall are in my prayers.

the bronchitis may hurt for a couple of
days though. Also even though he is
doing better this morning don't be
surprised if he has a relapse tonight.
