Speach Problem With Brcaces, Advice Please Posted: 12-10-06 12:29pm
Hi,
i recently (about 2 months ago) had upper
and lower braces. These are the removable
types, i.E. A plate fitted in your mouth
essentially like retainers but with more
wires etc. I was told at the time it
would screws up my speach but would get
used to it eventually. Well it did but
that improved but now two months later I
still have a significant lisp to my voice.
My orthodontist say he doughts it will
improve much now and I just need to accept
it. Is this normal and is there anything
I can do to improve it. I'm not a kid but
an adult and while all my friends etc are
used to me with a lisp I have to give a
lot of presentations in my job and would
like to be able to talk properly again. I
wouldn't worry so much if it was just
going to be a few moths but i've been told
i'll have them for a long time and then
retainers after that so is there any hope
for me?
