Getting Taller
Posted: 12-10-06 12:45pm

Hi,

im 17, from a semitic ethnic background. My families genetics are quite good when it comes to height, yet my mom is kinda short, and my dad is average 5'8"; ive got uncles on both sides that are 6'+. Currently, im at 5'10", and I could only hope to reach 6'. Ive been hearing from everyone that a male keeps on growing right up to 21, is this true, scientifically I mean, or is it just talk?

I consume a fair amount of calcium a day, a 600mg pill, with 3/4 litres of fresh milk that I take with whey protein. I also do alot of weight lifting, and im fairly fit. I also take glutamine pills regularly, which I heard enhance the secretion of growth hormone, which is the prime factor in determining height. To sum it up, do you guys think it is possible that I gain those 2" and be officialy labled tall?

Thanks in advance Wink

Thanks for the advice dbar, but every doctor ive been to, adviced against the use of hgh, saying that being a synthetic, it would stop the secretion of the real deal, and, it might cause my jaw and cheekbones to grow larger, and other disfigurations.

I'm a little curious too.

I'm more into the idea of naturally secreting HGH through the use of exercise.

But it makes me wonder, if the body is secreting HGH in response to a specific amount of exercise - is that amount of HGH just going into repairing the body, or is it actually going to be used to help you grow (assuming you have the potential to continue growing).

HGH actually affects the body threefold --- it helps repair the body, build lean muscle mass AND it increases energy/metabolism.

Given that HGH is released in proportion to exercise effort (right?), is it releasing it based on the amount necessary to help repair the body, or does it actually stimulate height growth, in tandem with repairs?

e.g.
Hypothetically, say you worked for 10 min at lactate thresh hold and your body released 8 oz of hgh (that is a gross exageration, its hypothetical). Will all 8 oz go to repairing your body, or will some of it actually stimulate some height growth (Assuming your at the age where you have the potential for growth)?

I'd assume both. Wouldn't you? I don't think that the HGH would be limited to only one area of the body if both require attention.
