Trouble with ovulation and irregular periods
Posted: 12-10-06 18:45pm

I have a 2 year old daughter and have never had problems getting pregnant before. I always thought i was very fertile, but now that my fiancee and I have been trying to get pregnant aand cannot conceive at all. I have tried the Ovulation kits and they have not shown positive. I have been recording when I ovulate and so far I have getting my period on the 19th of the month except for last month which I started on the 11th as well as this month the 9th. All of a sudden my periods are irregular and according to the ovulation kits, I am not ovulating. What do I do?? When I was 23 yrs. old, I got pregnant and lost the baby, so when I got pregnant with my 2 yr. old, I usedthe ovulation kit and it worked. When my daughter was about 5 months old I gor pregnant but had a miscarriage at 10 wks. Now I am finding that I can't even get pregnant. When I was four months pregnant with my daughter I a cerclage put on. My doctor told me that I have an incompetent cervix. Please help me is there something wrong with me??

According to your description, you are probably experiencing secondary sterility. Irregular cycles/periods are typical for cycles without ovulation. Without ovulation, conception is impossible. Ovulation can be confirmed with an ovulation predictor kits and by measuring basal temperature. Detecting progesterone in the blood also confirms ovulation. An incompetent cervix can cause miscarriage but can’t disturb conception. There is nothing you can do but to ask for medical help from a gynecologist.
