Is the level of radiation from x-rays harmful to the body?

It can be harmful to your reproductive organs, so when you are having an x-ray done or are in the same room as someone getting an x-ray, you will be given a protective lead apron to wear, unless you are having that part of your body x-rayed, in which case it is an necessary risk.
