A nuchal translucency test is used to calculate the risk of a fetus having Down syndrome or another chromosome anomaly and/or major heart defect. In this test, the ultrasound is used to measure the thickness of the tissue on the back side of the fetus’s neck (nuchal region). The nuchal thickness, together with your pregnancy age and your age are then put into a formula whose results calculate the risk for the child to have Down syndrome or some other chromosome anomaly. In your case ,you didn’t give me enough data (pregnancy age) to calculate the risk.
