Just a Quick Question Posted: 02-03-04 10:51am
Hi, I was just wondering how much support
there was in america for young mum's? How
do you guys get by? I know how hard it is
in australia, but I have heared that there
you do not really have much government
support in the form of social wealfare, is
that true? To all I say young mums
rock....

We have things like title 19-for medical,
fip-which give you money, food stamps and
wic, which also helps with food. That's
about all that i'm aware of!

Apart from stuff like wic,i think these
girls just get by on good old hard work!
Many of them have supportive families
which help but I think many of them do it
by themselves by working. Its great that
many of them choose to continue their
education.Well done girls

To be honest I don't know, i've never used
any of the programs, like wic and
medicade, but from what I hear if you
qualify through low-income families, its
pretty easy to get.

*i hope that I didnt offend any one by
asking, its just that we were talking
about different things at ywwap ( young
women who are parents) today and the topic
came up and it made me wonder, thanks.

It all sounds daunting.... Over here we
get a parenting payment of $420, a family
tax payment of $220 rent assistance upto
$169, plus medicare, and pension cards
that intital us to subsidised travel,
electricity, gas and phone,regardless of
age..... So it makes me kinda glad I live
here.....
