Ok, This Is Going to Be Weird...

Am I just quirky, or is something wrong with me?

Ever since I was a kid, I hated dry skin. After swimming, showering, washing my hands, being in the rain, touching something with condensation or anything else that would get my hands wet in the least bit, I would lick my finger tips to get moisture until the dry feeling went away.

My mom and older sister use to yell at me about it lol, and when I got a little older, I realized the beauty of lotion. So I stopped licking my finger tips (for the most part, unless i'm in a dersperate situation and have no lotion around lol) and began using lotion every time my hands got moist. Even if it is the tiniest bit.

Is that weird? I know people don't like dry skin, but I have taken it to the extent. If I don't get the dry feeling to go away, I feel like i'm going to go completely crazy!

That's not all..... I refuse to touch dry wooden objects. Like a wooden spatula, or a popsicle stick. If I touch one, I get the weird dry hand thing, and I also have to ( and this is where it gets really weird..) I have to put pressure on my teeth. My front teeth. By pushing my lips into them. If I don't, I feel some form of anxiety.

Same thing with people biting metal silverware. I have to put pressure on my front teeth if anyone slides their teeth against it. Or if two metal things collide into eachother, like two forks sticking together. If I don't put pressure on my front teeth, it feels really gross in my gums where my teeth are, and it won't go away until I get pressure.

Another thing I have a problem with is, cracking my toes. Some people crack their knuckles, but I crack my toes. I have done it since I was in junior high, and I am 22 now. I crack my toes at least 50 times per day. Especially when I wear shoes. If I can't crack my toes, it drives me nuts, and I take off my shoes so I have enough room to crack them. I hate it. But I can't stop doing it.

Veins make me want to puke. When I was a kid, my older sister learned I had a problem with veins, and she would hold me down, and press down on my veins on my wrist. I would gag to the point where I would almost throw up. When I see veins, it makes me want to push the skin on my fingertips into my nails. Like, putting pressure into my finger tips.

I also have to put pressure on my finger tips if anyone touches my finger tips or nails.

I'm sorry this post is so long lol, but I have been dying to get someones opinion. So, am I quirky? Or do I have problems? Is anyone else like this?

Thank you for reading Smile

The dry skin thing, I get. I did the same thing (and sometimes still do) to keep my hands wet. I can't walk barefoot in sand or play with it with my hands. Gives me the creeps! Try zoloft or prozac. Sounds like you may have ocd (not always what it sounds like). There are some tactile sensitivity issues and could be relieved from meds. Let me know if this helps!
