My Echocardiography Report..please Help Posted: 12-15-06 03:37am
Left ventricle: normal in size with good
contractility of all segments. Lv
function is normal. Estimated ef is 65-69
percent.
Right ventricle: normal in size with good
contractibility
left atrium: normal in size
right atrium: normal in size
aorta: aortic root is normal in size
aorta valve: structurally normal
mitral valve: structurally normal. A
trace mitral regurgitation is noted
pulmonic valve: not well seen
tricuspic vavle: structurally normal. A
trace of tricuspid regurgitation os noted
pericardial effusion: no pe
other: estimated pa systolic pressure is
30mmhg, assuming a mean rap of 5 mmhg.
If you havent read my other thread, I have
problems such as pains temporarity coming
and then leaving after few seconds in my
heart. The pain is in the heart but I
cannot identify where exactly. I am 18.
I would like to know what you think about
the report, and please to tell me
1/what is meant in the estimated ef in the
left ventricle
2/what is meant by "regurgitation" in both
mitral and pulmonic valve findings? Is it
good/bad?
3/what is meant in the "other" findings,
and is it good/bad?
Please advise

Hi
ef= ejection fraction (the percent that is
pumped out of the heart with each
beat)> normal is 50-70%. Your value is
perfect.
Regurgitation means slight back-leak. Is
is extremely common (nearly everyone has
minimal tricuspud regurg and more than
half have minimal mitral regurg).
Pa systolic pressure is the estimated
("assuming a mean rap of 5 mmhg")
pulmonary artery pressure (main blood
vessel from heart to lung) your value is
perfect.
