If length of pregnancy is 40 weeks then
why do we say a baby is born in 9 months.
They do not add up? Please explain.

The Dr. Say you are really pregnant for
10 months, my Dr. Says this to me all the
time. Everyone is under the impression
of 9 months, even I was, ask your Dr.
Next time you are able to talk to him/her

Because when you count pregnancy in weeks,
you count from your last period, which is
two weeks _before_ your conception. And
pregnancy really lasts nine and a half
months after conception, but we round it
off to nine months because it's easier to
think about. Therefore, nine months = 40
weeks.

When they give you a due date that means
you could have the baby around that
time.....Before or after that time period!
By the way isn't it nice having a break
from periods?

I have no idea. That's something you'll
just have to ask your Dr. About. That's
just what I was told by my gyno so ask
them.

40 Weeks = 9.2 Months Posted: 10-11-05 22:48pm
40 weeks is 9 months 5 days. There are
more than 4 weeks in a month. A month
averages 30.4 days (365 divided by 12).
Divide 280 days by 30.4 days in a month
and you get 9.2 months.
40 weeks is 9 months 5 days.

From,
a math teacher
well your baby will come when it's
ready....38 weeks, 40 weeks, 42 weeks(for
us less fortunate!). Really you're only
pregnant for less than 9 months. To
explain....If your lmp started january
20th and your due date is october 27th,
you would have conceived on or about
february 3(2 weeks from start of cycle).
So february 3rd to october 27th is one
week less 9 months.
Hope I didn't confuse any of you :)

Yes when they do ultra sound it is
including the 2 weeks before conception.
So when they do u/s and say 5 weeks you
are literally only 3 weeks past
conception.( room for error is +/- 5days)
from ovulation to birth is 38 weeks.
It is exactly 10 months on lunar
calander,(from period to birth) but on our
calander it is actually 8 months, 2 weeks
and 6 days.(from ovulation day)
you take your ovulation day--(period start
day+ 14)day #14 you add 9 months to the
day , then take off 8 days. You will get
the exact same day as the .Dr pregnancy
wheel.

pragnent? I am at 41 weeks and still
waiting! Some nurse just told me that it
is possible to wait till 46 week, is that
really true?
