I'm using duragesic for chronic
pancreatitis (genetic,not alcohol) pain.
The patch I put on this morning fell off
and landed in such a manner that I
couldn't reapply it. That'll leave me
with 3 days of no pain relief at the end
of the month.
I do have an old patch; I didn't need it
at the time because I was in the hospital
for a couple days and skipped it. The
expiration date is dec 05. I'm wondering
if a patch that old would offer me any
relief at all or if it's just useless by
now. Is there any reason using one that
old would actually be dangerous?

Pancreatitis is an inflammation of the
pancreas that reduces the function of the
pancreas, causing pancreatic
insufficiency, malabsorption, and
diabetes. Acute pancreatitis is usually a
temporary condition and can be caused by
gallstones, excessive alcohol consumption,
high blood triglycerides, abdominal
injury, and other diseases, and by certain
medications and poisons. Chronic
pancreatitis is a slow, silent process
that gradually destroys the pancreas and
is most often caused by excessive alcohol
consumption.
Dr balch's nutritional team has created a
formula designed for acute episodes of the
disease. Powerful gastrointestinal
components have been added to promote
recovery and fortification of the local
system. Traditional botanicals with
anti-inflammatory and healing properties
are used alongside specific herbs for the
condition. Recovery is also addressed
with digestive aids.
Digestive enzymes with ox bile can assist
digestion and gallbladder function.
